Why do you pass on the RIGHT on the freeway?
It's 1. illegal
2. Extremely dangerous, because the driver to YOUR left- yeah that guy you're passing ! cannot SEE you.

Sometimes people driving in the middle lane are driving more slowly than the speed limit. This creates a bottleneck if other traffic is passing on the left and others are forced to slow down in the middle lane. In those circumstances, some people choose to pass on the right. It's not always illegal, but most highways have signs saying that slower traffic should be in the right lane.
Also, people who are merging on to off ramps on the right may be going faster than slower traffic in the middle lane.
If, however, a driver is simply weaving in an out of traffic to save 2 minutes on a 30 minute trip, then, yes, they have a death wish.
