Weird question about weaknesses?

Like, in a book, some characters don't want to show weakness to their enemies, but shouldn't they want their enemies to underestimate the characters and exaggerate their weaknesses or something so that the characters can catch them off guard?

If you are ticklish and you are wrestling with a cousin and they find out then suddenly you're vulnerable not to just the fighting but also the tickling he's gonna lay on ya so now you are trying to just prevent the ticklage and not winning the wrestling contest. You didn't want anyone to know you were ticklish to begin with and that's why. Now it is your 'biggest' weakness. Your cousin, your mother, your Aunt, God brother, best friend. Anytime anyone wants you to do something they will threaten you with tickles.

If you want realistic characters you give them the same thought patterns, habits, idiosyncrasies and weakness' of real people.

But they're more likely to underestimate them if they don't know what the weaknesses are at all

creating an obvious flaw but not a real one works. If I raise my hands to the face my stomach is open if I drop my hands to the side a different target is open. Not a perfect metaphor. It's called rope a dope in boxing
