How do you praise God when you don't understand what is happening in your life?

dena when things are not so good is the best time to praise god like you said anyone can praise Him when things are great. James 1:2 tells us we are to count it all as joy the good and the bad. it may be hard to pray at first but you will be surprised at how easy it will become and more than that you may see your bad times turn into good ones hope this helps may God bless and protect you always through the good and the bad.

But I want to add something to your answer.

If you will keep a journal of when the Lord helped you other times and how you maybe just worried instead of trusting in Him, then you can go back and see what not to do.

And you can write down how He came through when you gave Him praise and honor in the midst of your trouble. And God came on the scene big time.

Just trying to remember back does not work as well as keeping a prayer journal. The late great Catherine Marshall kept a diary all her life.

I have many journals I have kept and go back and read how God brought me through so that I can remind myself of how good God is and how He never let me down.

One thing I learned after I was filled is this.

The scene has to change, because the Word of God will never change. You can stand on it, because the word of God is as truth today as it was back in biblical times.

So encourage yourself like the way King David did.

You praise Him anyway for Life in the first place, you petition Him to increase your Faith Patience and Understanding, and as crazy as it may sound, good and not so good times help us grow as spiritual beings which is our primary nature --soulical and human being our secondary and tertiary natures, respectively.

To be sure, we have soo many reasons to praise God; some of these reasons we know of --we awoke to another day today, we can see and smell and hear and taste and our food supple is still intact and water is still available (and drinkable)-- and others we know not: the Earth's gravity maintains its integrity in the appropiate proportion, earth as not yet collided with one of the other 'massive' possibilities in the universe, our universe remains intact with a certain degree of equilibrium.. We take so much for granted, advertently or inadvertently. Always give thanks and praise to God, for He sustains life as we know it (and don't know it).

Can it be anymore obvious? We should be in heavens by now, but we are grounded becasue of mankind and his greed.

Dena, it seems that you answered your own question. Sometimes all I have to do is look back on things I thought were bad, but turned out to be blessings. It helps me to realize I can't see the big picture when I'm in the middle of the "down," but that I can still say "thank You", knowing God can work something good out of it--IF I let Him.

With faith we say when we pray that we want Him that His will be done on earth as it is in heaven and that may not always be what we want but it is always His will and in the end it is what is good and right. No matter how hard it is to understand we must always accept it with love and peace. He always accepts us even with our faults. Just ask Him to pick you up when you are feeling down you will feel lighter and much warmer and when you fell better when He sets you back down you will feel better again.

I praise God because it help me to have more wisdom and to see good things where others do not see that. For example, my sweetheart is joking me because I sometimes make mistakes in writing. That may be considered as bad luck. But, viewed from other angle, she took trouble to write to me, so she cares about me and even loves me but she do not want to tell me that directly.

So, love is happening in my life but it seems like trouble:))

One time, Brahman came to our world(Maia) in the form of a hog. He had a hog family that he loved and forgot all about his role in heaven, a Lord of Heaven, came down to call him back, he said "No this cannot be, I am a hog, look here at my hog life, my hog children and family"

You just have to remember that he has your life all planned out for you, he knows whats going to happen. He says in the Bible He'll never give you something you can't handle. "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" ! :)
