How long would coffee (with nothing in it) be good for at room temperature?
I don't care what it tastes like, I just wouldn't want to get sick. If I had made a pot of coffee and turned off the burner, how long would it be good for?
The reason I ask is because I"m in college and sometimes I don't drink as much as I make, or more commonly, make it and forget that I made it. I'd rather not throw it out to save some money and I'm only really drinking it for the caffiene and not the taste.
Could you define "a while"? An hour? 12 hours? 3 days?
It's not difficult.. I managed a Tim Hortons for 3.5 years. I don't want to make more to save money (I'm in college), and in a lot of cases I'm only drinking it to stay awake so I'll sacrifice taste for monetary savings.

Brewed coffee will lose it's flavor right after being brewed, and continue to lose flavor as time goes on............nothing harmful if you drink it a while after brewing, just don't let it sit for days :]

I work at Starbucks and we are supposed to brew fresh coffee every half hour. However, it is in order to present the freshest taste and flavor possible. I think your chances of getting sick from coffee are less likely than, say, touching a doorknob, but the chances increase if it is sitting in the pot for days.
Just wondering, but why don't you care what it tastes like? : \ Good coffee, is, well, GOOD! And it should taste good! I don't think it's terribly difficult to make fresh coffee.
EDIT: Ah, I see.....well, I'm a college student too and I have a suggestion. Why don't you use instant coffee? It's inexpensive and has the caffiene definitely. You use just a single serving each time, so you won't waste it.
