Agree/Disagree with these statements?

1.the Stones are better than the Beatles

2.Jim Morrison was a better lyricist than Paul McCartney

3.Robert Plant is a better vocalist than Freddie Mercury

4.Pink Floyd are *the* greatest band of all time

5.Bob Dylan is the greatest songwriter of all time

6.Jimmy Page is in the top 5 guitarists of all time

These aren't my opinions, btw. I'm asking you. I agree with some, disagree with others.

1.the Stones are better than the Beatles ~ it's a push

2.Jim Morrison was a better lyricist than Paul McCartney ~ I don't think so

3.Robert Plant is a better vocalist than Freddie Mercury ~ better? Less dramatic/ less flamboyant ~ but hard to say better because they're so different. I like RP better.

4.Pink Floyd are *the* greatest band of all time ~ OK

5.Bob Dylan is the greatest songwriter of all time ~ Totally OK

6.Jimmy Page is in the top 5 guitarists of all time ~ Well.... he's not in my top five (I don't think. I don't really relate to 'lists' very well)... but I don't know who my top five are... so maybe.

    1) Disagree. I don't know why they keep getting contrasted except that they were contemporaries.

    2) Disagree. Great performer but cheesy, teenage bubblegum poetry.

    3) Tough one. Totally different styles but I think I agree...as long as you're saying then rather than now. Plant can barely sing at all anymore.

    4) Close but Disagree. Really, really close.

    5) Again close, but Agree. Deepest, most influential and most "meaningful" lyrics of all time. Can't say the same for the music end but lyrically, absolutely.

    6) Agree. Not top 3 but top 5. Although over the years he's gotten worse as opposed to Clapton, who gets better and better.

    4. theyre good, but you cant have a single best anything because everyone has different tastes and opinions.

    5. not by a long shot.

    6. ive heard better, in the top 100 definitely.

I can't believe that I'm the only one who thinks that Bob Dylan is the greatest songwrite of all time. The only other people that I would consider would be Brian Wilson, John Lennon, and Paul McCartney.

4: as much as I love Floyd; even the earlier freaky-psychedelic stuff, they are not the best band in the world. That would be TOOL! (although Cal had a valid point: "4. theyre good, but you cant have a single best anything because everyone has different tastes and opinions." this IS an opinoin question
