How many calories are in a pound of human poo?

If we absorb caolories when we eat food, and we "count" those calories, are we to assume that 100% of everything we eat is absorbed by the body? If not, then surely some of those calories are expelled in poo. If so, on average, how many calories are not absorbed by the body and ejected in poo as a % of the poo?

If there are no calories in poo, then what is poo made of???

I don't have an answer, but it's an interesting, if disgusting, question.

My thought is that it would vary depending upon what one eats. The more easily absorbed a food is, the fewer calories come 'out'

  • what the heck? why would you even want to know that?! that is gross. There is no protein in poo and calories are absorbed into your fat cells and you burn calories to burn fat so no there is no calories in poop.

Who knows. But I DO know that if you take ALLI then you'll have a lot more calories in your poo than if you don't take it. That's why it works. (If youve taken ALLI you know what I mean!)

There is a site that explains how to build a Calorimeter. Basically you can burn the crap and it will tell you how many calories are in it. Burning crap... mmm, what could go wrong there?

Not everything you eat is absorbed, not everything you eat can be broken down. Excrements is waste and waste cannot be taken in.

0, it's the wastes, not the calories
