What is your opinion?

I recently fell in love with the name Hattie. I think it is absolutely adorable, vintage, classic, and unique yet normal. I did a little research on the name, looking for full names for it and the only ones I could find are Harriet and Henrietta, neither of which I love, or even like. But still Hattie stays. I think it could be fine as a name on it's on, but I'm not quite sold on it. Do you think it could be an actual name even though it's more often a nickname? And if so, how would you imagine a girl named Hattie to be...as a child, teen and adult?

Thanks Everybody ♥

Hello(: I have a three year old little girl named Hattie and her actual name is Hattie, my husband's grandmother was called Harrietta but i wasn't too keen on it but he wanted our little girl to be named after his grandmother as that was who he knew the most in his family (: Honestly i couldn't care less what people think of the name, before Hattie was born everyone on my side of the family asked me if i was crazy etc. But now she's here I just couldn't picture any other name on her and i get alot of compliments, I thought the name was unique, cute and innocent and it really suits my daughter well. If you like it- you go for it. If someone doesn't like it so what? I always think it may not suit a teenage girl very much but honestly that is her name, she will get used to it her friends will know her as Hattie and no one will surely be like "Hmm, i wonder what it would have been like if you were called ...." If they do then thats there problem ha. :)

So for me i adore the name Hattie always have, and always will.

    Goodluck with everything ♥

No, sorry.. Hattie sounds like a cutesy nickname that may be sweet when she's a baby and a child but it's just not fair for when she's an adult. You don't know what path she may choose in life and if she chooses to be a professional female, Hattie isn't cute.. it can hold her back. A more formal option is only fair. Some nicknames hold their own like Luke, Mark or Kate but other ones like Maggie or Katie or Hattie or Johnny, etc.. are just not formal enough to be the only option.

Sorry.. what about Natalie or Natalia and you can call her Nattie which is possibly similar enough where you still love it.. maybe?

Hattie is fine on it's own as a child but when she grows up, she'll need a name to be taken seriously by. I have nothing against the name Hattie, but I think trying to come up with a longer name for her will give her a choice in her adulthood on whether or not she wants to remain Hattie or change it.

    Best of Luck

Honestly I can only imagine an old lady knitting when I hear the name Hattie.

I think it's too much of a nickname to really pass for a real name.

It could be a nickname for Harriett though, I have to absolutely agree on that. I do not at all like Harriet, but it would be a sensible nickname for those names.

I used to do nursing care...I took care of an elder lady named Hattie Mae. I always thought that was a cute name.

Honestly, if people can call their daughters Neveah, Brooklyn, Addison, etc, etc. then surely Hattie is a perfectly ok. If you like it, then use it.

I think it's more of a nickname, and maybe for an animal.
