Volunteering at a hospice. Should I do it?

I'm currently unemployed and think I should take some of my extra time to help patients at a hospice or at their homes. I have an appointment for training in a few days. Is this the right thing to do? I have to take a TB and drug test which will pass. Is this something god wants me to do? I'm newly saved trying to help others. Have you ever done something like this? Did it depress you or make you feel happy to help others? Thanks!

I volunteered in the field of mental health and heard other volunteers from hospices saying what beautiful work it was - if you are unsure ask for guidance from your god meditate on your fears and see what answers you get.

If you don't need to work for a living then of course you can volunteer instead of searching for a new job.

Some people use time off between jobs to further their education thus making them more able to get a better job and have an influence on society but you are free to choose the religious delusional and superstition path if this rocks your boat dear.

Oh and by the way, there is absolutely no way for you to know ahead of time what the outcome of your TB test will be. The good news is that, if you are positive then thanks to doctors , chemists, nurses and pharmacists that studied science for years, you can be cured.

Is there anything wrong with what you are choosing to do? You have the time, you wish to volunteer and help people. Isn't that supposed to be a good thing to do? Don't be so conflicted about it. At any rate, it would be a good learning experience.

  • An admirable aspiration as long as you are not going to proselytise people they dont need it and dont underestimate the strength required to offer solace to those who know death is immanent

Do it because you think it will help people, not because you're kissing up to a deity. Helping people is depressing sometimes.
