Explain more to me Protestants, i dont get u?
first, some of my protestant friends say that the Roman Catholic Church is not exactly Christian. Do most protestants believe that? Second, do protestants think we worship Our mother Mary or other "idols"?
oh and just so y'all know, we Catholics do NOT WORSHIP Mary! We honor her like you would honor your grandparents. And there is a HUGE difference between Roman Catholic and other Catholics (like American Catholics are way different)
Another thing, the Roman Catholic Church is the Original church. Protestants have to agree with that. As well as JESUS said to St. Peter "And upon this rock thou shalt build My Church" that is the Roman Catholic Church.
Roman Catholics have not added ANYTHING to the Bible, protestants have decided for themselves what to keep and what of GOD's Word to git rid of. Any you protestants who won't listen; WE ROMAN CATHOLICS DON"T PRAY TO MARY!
The 15 Promises of Mary to Christians Who Recite the Rosary (from one of Mary's apearences)
1. Whoever shall faithfully serve me by the recitation of the rosary, shall receive signal graces.
2. I promise my special protection and the greatest graces to all those who shall recite the rosary.
3. The rosary shall be a powerful armour against hell, it will destroy vice, decrease sin, and defeat heresies.
4. It will cause virtue and good works to flourish; it will obtain for souls the abundant mercy of God; it will withdraw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities, and will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.
6. Whoever shall recite the rosary devoutly, applying himself to the consideration of its sacred mysteries shall never be conquered by misfortune. God will not chastise him in His justice, he shall not perish by an unprovided death; if he be just he shall remain in the grace of God.
7. Whoever shall have a true devotion for the rosary shall not die without the sacraments of the Church.
8. Those who are faithful to recite the rosary shall have during their life and at their death the light of God and the plentitude of His graces; at the moment of death they shall participate in the merits of the saints in paradise.
9. I shall deliver from purgatory those who have been devoted to the rosary.
10. The faithful children of the rosary shall merit a high degree of glory in heaven.
11. You shall obtain all you ask of me by the recitation of the rosary.
12. All those who propagate the holy rosary shall be aided by me in their necessities.
13. I have obtained from my Divine Son that all the advocates of the rosary shall have for intercessors the entire celestial court during their life and at the hour of death.
14. All who recite the rosary are my sons, and brothers of my only son Jesus Christ.
15. Devotion of my rosary is a great sign of predestination.
at elizabeth. did u not read 1-15? Dont some protestants "pray" for thoes who have passed away to be an iterceser?

Christ taught:
Matthew 6: 7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

Protestant is not the most accurate term. Reformers would be better, but many of us prefer to be called "Christians" on the basis of bearing the name of our Lord. I cannot speak for other Protestant/Reformed Christians, but I do not automatically discount the faith of anyone in the Catholic church. Whether Roman Catholic, Methodist, Evangelical, Presbyterian, and so on, there are set qualifications which makes one a true and faithful Christian; if you are true and faithful to the Lord, then I have no shame in calling you my brother or sister.
Edit:
There are a couple of things that should be added:
"Protestants" generally do not pray to others to intercede on our behalf. The end of what is now Hebrews 7 makes it clear that it is Jesus who intercedes on [our] behalf and what a wonderful intercessor He is!
I wonder about what you wrote about Jesus listening to Mary, now, while at the right hand of the Father. Ultimately, this seems to be a great conclusion, but based in no real substantiation. Beyond this, aside from the four-fold Gospel, there is no mention of Mary holding any intercessory position or, also, a position of authority for the Christian. This is, of course, not to devalue Mary in any way, but if there was significance in such a manner as to require prayer, why is she not listed beyond the sections in the Gospel?
John taught us to test the spirits to see if they are from God. Granted, the direct context is towards the tangible "false prophets" which had gone out into the world, but the warning stands of all spirits which pose as being "of God."
I hold the last point as being of great personal importance. The evening of November 21st, 2009, I was driving home when I "heard" a single voice over my own and the music I was playing, which said, "Phillip, listen to my word!" It never happened before and never happened again. We [must] weigh what is being said or taught to the very Word which testifies to that which we believe and have believed from the beginning: that Christ Jesus lived the blameless life, which we could not, suffered a humiliating death upon the cross on our behalf, and, on the third day, rose and appeared to His disciples, as well as over 500 others and now sits at the right hand of the Father, interceding for us.
If it was really a teaching, which was from God, we must weigh it against His Word; this is the summation of the "Reformed" approach: Scripture alone as the basis of all teachings.

This is your belief. You love this belief. It lines up for you. It's not my belief
and there's certainly a big risk in discussing this, right? You are where you are,
and that's that, right? There are so many reasons that could never be my
belief. But you'd like one, right? When Jesus said to Peter above, there
was no Roman Catholic Church. In fact, weren't the Romans at that time
hated by the Jews, and under bondage to them. There are books that
explain when this church started. It wasn't at the time Jesus spoke.
And the word 'church' in English means 'the called out ones'. I would
not ever consider this group because they call (you'll correct if this is
not right) Mary the Mother of God. God has no mother. Mary was
chosen, and very special that was, to carry Jesus who had no genetic,
earthly mother or father. I think very highly of Mary, and it was so
hard for her to understand Jesus. Remember when Mary and her
other children went to see Jesus, and what He said to her? He didn't
mince words, did He. He spoke the truth. Now, you're where you are,
because that's the place for you to be. I'm a believer, but could never
be a protestant because I don't want to 'protest'. Yet, if something
is said that I can't agree on, I need also to 'speak the truth in love'.
It is my wish to have done this. Unless you change the name of
your church, the parent of your church is the Roman Catholic Church,
and they're not going to let you stray far from their beliefs.

Its not prayer to Mary, its prayer through Mary. A complicated and subtle difference, but a difference all the same.
The rifts formed between the Catholic and Protestant Churches in the 15th-18th centuries were based in reason. After the Council of Trent, those reasons were dissolved. Now the only thing keeping the two apart are mistaken superstitions and false beliefs about the other groups. Seriously, you two are the only ones who hold your differences high up, more so for the Protestants since they lack any established authority telling them that the other group is ok.

Being a Christian and being Catholic is usually two different things. And yes, many people believe that Catholics worship Mary and other Saints. If you honor her like you honor your grandparents, why do you pray to her and have statues of her, like you would of Jesus? Actually, you have added to the Bible, that's where you got ideas like "purgatory" and such. Do you know what Roman Catholics actually believe? because you guys do pray to Mary...As a Protestant, I take promises from God to heart, not Mary. Yes she was a wonderful woman, but not to be revered in the way you do. Also, the rosary is a string of beads. We just pray to the God that loves us.

Catholics have the Eucharist. The Eucharist is truly believed to be the Savior. The Lord is concept to be spiritually and bodily recent in church. i don't comprehend ever element about Protestant faith, yet i comprehend that folk did not like praying to Mary. Catholics do not worship Mary. Catholics "honor" Mary. Please comprehend: If an angel of the Lord can come to Mary and say, "Hail complete of Grace," why can human beings now to not an similar? The Blessed mom is respected and honored interior the Catholic Church. although the Catholic Church is concept to have had a lot detrimental historic previous (Crusades, and so on.), Protestantism also has some negativity. Martin Luther became an anti-Semite. human beings interior the church were "human beings;" making blunders at cases. presently (formerly death) Pope John Paul the second one had apologized for the wrongs dedicated years in the past. God is suitable, yet guy is truly able to falling. interior the Catholic Church, human beings confess sins to a clergyman and a clergyman forgives. The Lord is concept to be operating by ability of clergymen at particular cases. a clergyman is declared to be a "shepherd" and those who bypass to a church are referred to as "The Church." Catholic practise is declared to be antagonistic to abortion and birth control, and baptism, reconciliation and confirmation are believed to be holy sacraments.

Just look at what number 3... honey, only God has those sort of powers. God ALONE.
4. "obtain grace"?? No, Jesus gave us grace.. GAVE. Grace earned is not grace...look it up.
8. Dear, the Bible says Christ is the Light.. no man comes to the Father but by HIM. No mary.
Oh just show me anywhere in the bible any of those things can be granted to you via a saint who has passed on before us.

For those who are questioning Catholics... first you need to educate yourself. GOD instructs us to not worship others, elevating them to the status of GOD.
Now... there are three types of prayers...
1)Latria - Prayer of adoration/worship. This is reserved for GOD and GOD alone...
2)Dulia - Prayer of veneration for Saints
3)Hyperdulia - Elevated prayer of veneration, reserved for our Blessed Virgin Mary
As such, we pray to Mary so that she may pray for us. We recognize that being GOD's earthly mother, there is a special connection between Him and His mother. In fact, he does not ignore the wishes of HIS mother... might I remind you of the Wedding at Cana?
As such... if you Protestants attempted to better understand what we actually do, instead of assuming that we do certain things, you would not sound so ignorant as it pertains to our faith. Stop listening to what you anti-Catholic pastor is saying about the Catholic Church... and actually learn something. Read books on the early Church Fathers and decide for yourself. I can GUARANTEE that you will convert to Catholicism once you read the books from the Early Church Fathers to see how the early Christians worshiped. You will be pleasantly surprised that it is the same way we Catholics worship today.
GOD BLESS...

you are reciting "man's" rules/regulations to their pagan club, you do not have any Scriptural basis nor support for these practices. Peace/Love & God Bless

"WE ROMAN CATHOLICS DON"T PRAY TO MARY! "
Really? What about the Hail Mary then, isn't that a prayer?
