Buying a laptop for college?
I got a HP probook 4510 which sucks so im returning it tomorrow or the day after the next. So i'm getting a new notebook from HP and i intend on customizing it.
Its between the HP Dv4t and the HP Dv4i. I
ll be customizing it, so which do you guys think is better in terms of CPU power and speed?
The probook is good hardware-wise, but the build quality is rubbish - Plastic, all plastic.

Hands down the Dv4i has a much better processor, the core i3. The pentium T4300 from the Dv4t is not only from the previous generation of mobile processors from Intel, it is one of the slowest ones from that generation. Meanwhile the core i3 was newly released a few months ago.
Therefore the Dv4i is a lot better in terms of CPU power and speed. The core i3 is based on a new microarchitecture and is on a 32 nm manufacturing process (vs. 45 nm for the Pentium T4300). A smaller manufacturing process means smaller transistors. Smaller transistors means they switch faster and use less power.
Hands down the Dv4i.

dv7t quad edition looks more like one I'd get, but my current laptop is only a little over a year old, so I'll stick it out a little longer before I upgrade. I didn't look at the specs for the HP probook 4510, but I can't imagine any modern laptop not being good enough as a laptop for college

I'd say they're about equal, just see which one you can customize to higher specs for the least amount of money. I don't think you can go wrong either way.
