CHRISTIANS: Has Christianity become the bloodiest religion in history?
Many claim that the greatest of violence was religion motivated, with Christianity being the top one.
Consider these comments by observers of the religious scene:-
“The innermost reason for inhuman savagery is religious.” (National Review)
“The chief motivation for war is no longer greed but religion.” (Toronto Star)
“The Holocaust ‘was all done by baptized Christians.’”—(The Tampa Tribune).
Is this true? If it is, why do people assume that someone who kills (or does anything bad for that matter) and claims to be christian automatically reflects on everyone who claims to be Christian? How can you prove that these bad people were not actually christians in the first place? And can evil influence prove that a person who say they are christians are actually demons using this to make christians look bad?
(By the way, I am a strong christian so please don't attack this question as if I am an atheist, its just a question).

The Dark Side of Christian History

Chriatianity and Islam both have violent tendencies. Here in America, not so much anymore. I'm not sure about the history of Islam...in the past, it seems like it was territorial or defensive but lately, it's hard to say since what we hear is biased. (not as in bad...but as in its happening to our country so we're going to hear about it more)
Except Judaism, the mono theist religions seem to promote violence in those with that tendency. I think the Jews would be more so but their nubers are small and they are pretty diverse in what they believe.
No everyone is the same...there are atheists, Hindu's, Muslims, etc that act different ways depending on their circumstances and who they've been exposed to..
Edit: Oh, yeah. In almost every case where violence became a major issue, it's when religion and politics were allowed to mix.

I think you're missing the point. Religious people as a whole aren't being accused of being responsible for most of the wars in this world. Religion itself is, and a small minority of religious people. If there were no religion, people would still do good things, but there would also be one less reason to start war. It would be a win win situation.

i think that generalizing something like the Holocaust and the tragedy there shouldn't be reflecting upon the entire religion.
it's things like the Spanish Inquisition, etc. that tend to make people generalize. millions have died in holy wars, and often it involved christianity.
you can't really prove that these people weren't christians; especially in the case of the Holocaust, being christian certainly was not their biggest crime and doesn't define who they were.
and about the demon thing... i don't know why anyone would purposely want to make christianity look bad, but i'm just going to point out that there's no such thing as demons (in my opinion) so don't even worry about that..

I believe, know Scripture and an born again of the Holy Spirit and have been for over 20 years and it is for these many cited reasons above that I NEVER identity or call my self a Christian. While I respect all faith in Christ, I have little or NO respect for Christians because they are NOT playing the game according to Scripture. Once anyone is born again of the Holy Spirit they become NEW creations and ALL things are NEW except in the world of the Christian. He was led into the eternal Kingdom upon conversation for a REASON, so He and she could COME out and shed light on the Kingdom of darkness and on the Kingdom of Light. No Christian can come in from the east and eternal realm until he or she gives up living naturally in the United States which is the land of their flesh. If all things are truly NEW in Christ, then the Believer must come in directly from the invisible Kingdom of Christ and shed light on the seeds of the Serpent and how they are defining the world of belief in Christ while Christians sleep and shed light on gender equality, racial equality, and all sorts of stupid STUFF which has EVER THING TO DO WITH FLESH and noting to do with the things of the Spirit of God and the invisible Kingdom of Christ. As it is, pastors have divided the spiritual body of Christ into a million or more local flocks and THEY see nothing wrong with that! I do and come in from the Kingdom ever day to challenge them and all Christians to wake up and get with the program. Jesus OPENED a Kingdom for the world to see and not some stupid local church that follows Christian tradition and sends the flocks out to invite someone to come hear the pastor. They wil answer to Jesus for dividing and weaken the spiritual body of Christ for their comfort. The ground game is for ALL true Christians is to simple say I am led of the Spirit and then go out into the streets and point east to the eternal Kingdom of Christ. If we execute the ground game we can NOT loose the brain wash game to the media that sets the biased agenda of Lucifer the light bearer of darkness against the spiritual body of Christ which is called to shed LIGHT on all things.

It's possible, many are motivated to do things when they feel they are acting on behalf of a greater good. There are probably a handful of people in the whole world who adhere to religious beliefs and take the good with the bad without applying their moral spin to it. No one can really say who is right or wrong because religion is not about right and wrong it is about obedience.

I dont think religion had anything to do with the holocaust. Hitler was just mental enough to think killing poles and jews would purify a country. There are a lot more psychos in history, like Vlad the Impaler and Jack the Ripper. Hitler was just another mental ****face in history that is most widely known.

Jake, this is a prime example of why it is CRITICAL for Christians to study their Bibles and grow in their faith so they will not be carried away by every "wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming" (Eph. 4:14). You can be saved and still be “fleshly,” that is, some of your ideas can still be based on the thoughts and desires of your own flesh rather than on the word of God. Paul declares this in 1 Cor. 3.
Bank tellers are supposed to study and examine currency so closely and carefully that they can easily spot a counterfeit right away. Christians MUST do the same with the word of God, because there are many counterfeits out there that exist to suck them in and draw them away from pure worship and devotion to Christ. Satan is a master deceiver, and he does his work disguised as an “angel of light.” (2 Cor. 11:14) Jesus taught us that we must be fruit inspectors (Mat. 7:16-20) and recognize the good from the bad.
Adolph Hitler hated Christianity and everything it stood for. In his own words, “the heaviest blow that ever struck humanity was the coming of Christianity” (Hitler, 1953, p. 6). But, he was willing to use it and to quote from the Bible in order to deceive millions. In my opinion, Hitler was a modern “type” of the Antichrist to come. Billions will be deceived by the one who will come saying, “Peace, peace.” And Hitler's carnage doesn’t even hold a candle to the death and destruction he will cause.
One atrocity you didn’t mention is the Crusades. During the Dark Ages, the vast majority of the common people couldn’t read their own language, much less Latin, which the Bible was written in. They weren’t allowed to have their own copy of the Bible, as they were taught it is an “organizational book” belonging to the church—and the church alone had the authority to interpret it for them. The corrupt leaders twisted the Scriptures for their own personal and political gain, and had thousands going off to fight their war, crying, “God wills it!”
Again, it is imperative that Christians read and study the word, that they examine those things they are taught to ensure they line up with the Bible, and that they be led by the Spirit of God so they will not be deceived by the spirit of the world.

"why do people assume that someone who kills (or does anything bad for that matter) and claims to be christian automatically reflects on everyone who claims to be Christian"
Well, Bloody Mary Tutor committed Horrific atrocities in the name of God.
Adolph Hitler Sates in Mein Kampf, his duty to the lord almighty, the creator, to protect themselves against the jews.
I don't think the crusades served a purpose other than to perpetuate Christianity
Or the inquisition for that matter....
comes to think of it
The salem witch burnings.... those were christians right?
Acting in accordance with their beliefs in God.
You know they used to hang indians in groups of 12 and the chief seperately.
Ask indians about Christian Love.
"Manifest destiny..."
God says this land is ours....

Savagery? More Christians have been killed in third-world countries in the last 200 years than the "Christian religion" has ever been responsible for.
War is ALWAYS motivated by greed, religion is an excuse but not a motivational factor.
The Holocaust was executed by men who all believed evolution. This is proven in the only meeting that took place about it, do your research. I'm not saying atheists are bad, but don't think the Holocaust was Christians because it was quite the opposite.
People just want to blame Christians for stuff so they have another excuse to hate them. It's always happened, it's nothing new.
