He likely made God not in his own image but something as 'greater than his own image.' Why make something in one's own image? If that were the case then they could simply become gods without the creation.

if god made us in his image it makes the idea of magic and stuff come true. if god looked and was like us except he had more powers he would be very similar to harry potter.

Man has to create himself as human from the animal he is, using God's image as a template.
