How popular is texting in Mexico and South America?

I live in Central America and all the young people, even the poorest ones, seem to have cell phones. Yes, texting is just as popular here as in the US.

Texting in South America is just as popular as texting in North America.

I lived in Buenos Aires for 6 months and it was really popular. Even the 26 year old woman I lived with was constantly texting and asking to borrow my phone when she ran out of text messages on her own phone. Texting is definitely not just a U.S. phenomenon.

Mexico, YES YES YES!!

Most teenagers have cell phones in Mexico! Cell phones are as popular as in the states. One big difference however, is that rarely to people have monthly plans in Mexico. Most people pay as they go! (Prepaid). There is one cool features that Mexico companies have that at least as I am aware of, U.S don't. In Mexico, it is possible to share value (money) through text messages. For example, lets say you friend finish all its prepaid value..is the middle of the night.. all stores are closed to add value.. Well one of your friend can share some of its value to you simply by texting! I think that's neat!

I might even say texting is MORE popular in Latin America, because of the rates of phones. I know that Blackberries are wildly popular (and the messenger that comes with it).

i currently live in Canada but i'm from mexico and go there often.... and i would say that there is lots of teens with cell phones maybe not as many as us and canada (percent wise) but i say txting is more common than talking cause is cheaper that making a call................ but i say is not as popular as america

North united states of america of america. they're part of NAFTA (North united states of america of america loose commerce contract) i do no longer know why those international places have faith Mexico is in South united states of america of america. probable simply by fact it extends far South?
