What makes you believe in spring, even if you know it isn't really here yet?

Update:

Yeah, our snow finally melted and it's been balmy, and even though I know it will snow more and be icy and raw again I suddenly believe in spring, which I really need right now.

Update 2:

@ kashtastic ~ Which season? And, if I may ask, where?

When little purple flowers push up through the garden path. I don't know what they're called, but shortly after the daffodils show up you know spring is here :)

*** They're called crocuses! I saw them mentioned in the newspaper as one of the first signs of spring. I've also seen several bare legs and I was even prised out of my coat this afternoon.

Oh Spring how I've missed you!

It's just the whole atmosphere. It changes.

I'm in this art competition thing at school, and there are different groups within the club and competition is in April, and we've done a few sessions where we stay late until 7 after school to work on our art. And the last time we did it was.... I think in February, and it was all dark out and then we did it yesterday, and it was still light out at 7. And everyone was definitely more productive yesterday than in February. My art teacher said she thought it was because of the brighter evening, since it's more spring now than it was, before.

Spring is definitely in the air. And today it was, like, 70 degrees and really nice and Shelby, Joshms, our other friend Paige, and I all went to the town park and it was great. And then we got ice cream!

Where I live, we pretty much only have one season...

But I think often when people are sick and tired of all the cold and wet, that by thinking it's spring, everything seems a little fresher and more bearable.

I think (although I've never actually seen any) that too much snow is depressing, so people need to believe it's practically spring despite the fact that its still miserable outside.

And plus, if all the animals are babying-it-up, it has to be spring :-)

    Queensland, Australia.

And it's always rather summer-ish. At least I feel that way.

As surprising as this may sound, sometimes I do not look forward to spring.

I live in Adelaide, South Australia, which, in recent years, has suffered from drought. Nearly all of our yearly rainfall occurs in late autumn/mid-winter (May - July). If there is no rain in winter, spring represents yet another year of water restrictions, more damage to the Murray River and increased risk of bushfires in summer.

I realize that it is Spring when it is a nice beautiful sunny and warm day and I have to go to work.
