Paint removal with a heat gun...help?

Is it possible to use a heat gun set to a low setting to remove latex paint from drywall? I have heard differing thoughts on the subject. Will this harm the drywall at all?

Update:

Update: The paint needs to be removed as it is peeling and has already been partially taken off the walls. I would like to take it all down for an even surface.

Why remove it? You can just paint over the color that is there. It is not necessary to remove the old paint.

Not a good idea. There is no reason to remove paint from drywall...paint over existing paint. A heat gun will require scraping of paint, and you will end up digging into dry wall creating a mess to refinish!
