Are you a Christian Atheist?

A Christian Atheist is an oxymoron. Just like odorless perfume.

You mean, Atheist who go to church either because they don't want their peers or family to think less of them?

I played that game for a while, then got out when I saw this dude at work fall down and this Christian friend next to me, instead of helping like calling 911, just stops, gets on his knees and starts praying.

We asked him to help, cause he was the only one that knew CPR, but he said God would save the man if his sins weren't that bad.

Guess what, that man died, and Mr. Faithful doesn't work there anymore.

I wish some of these Home-schooled Xians could think about what you really mean. They deal in Absolutes and judge too quickly.

If you mean atheist about 'God' but thinks the Bible has some good lessons, anyway, or that it's a good 'lifestyle', I do find that a very interesting idea. But a lot of my philosophies oppose things said in the Bible, even apart from deities. I like the extreme charity and selflessness, but not the guilt for human nature.

Most of the top leaders of churches are secret atheists (see The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins, god is not Great by Hitchens) but they have a well paid job, respect, and an inability to challenge authority. When people become educated and gain life experience they usually realise god is a myth, but often social consideration prevent them admitting it.

A lot of Christians begin to doubt the existence of God, but when they cease believing in him, they cease being Christians.

If you don't believe in the Christian God you're not Christian. If you're an atheist you're not Christian.

However, in some respect Christians are atheists with regard to every other God that was ever conceived of. But I don't think that is what you're getting at with this question.
