What light bulbs do i need for my Fiat Bravo 1.2L 51Plate?

I am wanting what i think they call 'Xenon' bulbs. These are similar to the bulbs which are now the stock fitted to all mercedes, BMW and Audi cars.

Using www.Halfords.co.uk could someone please advise me on which bulbs would be used for my car. Am only wanting them for my dipped lights.

Thanks

I'd take the old bulb out and read the spec on it. Sometimes the dipped and main beam have 2 filaments in one bulb. Not sure if this is the case on your car.

So your dipped beam bulbs are giving poor visibility and for the sake of safety and piece of mind you would like brighter lights.

You currently have Halogen bulbs size H1 (pls refer to your car manual)

At halfords they will sell you what they call Xenon bulbs.. but they are just fancy Halogens and are not good value for money, ie not that much brighter.

Philips and Osram do a great Halogen bulb (osram night breaker and philips xtreme power) they are good value for money and are @80% brighter than regular halogens.

If you want real Xenon or HID lights, 200% brighter than halogens, the kind you see on high end cars, that produce that white light with a hint of blue (daylight quality light) then you will have to install a HID kit. You can find these at http://www.hidorigin.com/hid-kits.html. They function at a lower wattage than Halogens (saving power/fuel) but need a high voltage burst to fire them up initially. This requires a Ballast on each bulb, all included in your kit. Often aftermarket HID kits cause glare for on coming traffic. HID Origin recommends you carefully fit your kit and buy an ANTI-GLARE SHIELD to ensure correct beam pattern.

Remember, when buying a HID kit always ask where it is made. Due to lax Quality control and poor regulations in China I do not advise buying Chinese made kits (despite the low prices). The safest and most reliable are European made but these are expensive. Korea and Japan have a good safety and quality record. A rule of thumb is if you would buy a car made there then you can consider their HID kits. HID origin only sells Kits on the higher end of the Quality spectrum and can source any OEM HID kits and part.

Hope this was helpful and informative, Vincent
