The UAF had EVERYTHING coming to them, I could care less what they call themselves, a group that is against free-speech and freedom no matter what you believe should not be welcome in our society, let's face it, people have completely forgotten what Fascism means as a political term, now it's merely an insult against anyone you disagree with, it wouldn't surprise me if the UAF called the dogs fascist!

Weyman Benett is a complete joke of a man, he can barely string a sentence together without saying 'racist, nazi or fascist'. There is no merit in what he says because he cannot debate at all. The UAF are known for being violent, and I guess this just puts the final nail in the coffin for them.

Boris Johnson has already condemned the UAF as a bunch of violent thugs, so I guess that's a start, despite how tasteless they are David Cameron will never leave the UAF, after all - if he claims to be against a group opposing fascism (however ironic that sounds) there is a possibility that he will be labelled as a fascist for not supporting a violent group.

Wolfie.. The Nazi's of WWII killed mostly white people......I thought that was pretty obvious at Key Stage 1.

You know what Danor, its not right, remember, the Dictator,Turncoat and Amnesty International support this group and the organiser of the violence is no one other than the accused bank robber and donation cheat the 'Minister of Wales' and his general Martin Smith. The UAF aim is to fight fascism with their fist and other weaponry at hand, like all Stalinist corruptions these thugs lost any credibility by their use of violence and those that openly support the UAF because of the fight against Fascism (or is it free speech) are without any doubt no better than the thugs that carry out the violence how ever much they try to distance themselves from the violence.

When you support thuggery you support anarchy and to me that is the mind of a moron and yet it is not only the three mainstream idiot leaders that support this violence what about those on this forum who support the UAF then make idiots of themselves by trying to distance themselves from the violence, the idiots seem incapable of understanding that you cannot win a debate with your fists, only hard line Stalinist think they can.

I would add that the EDL are no better we cannot have violence erupting on our streets, change must come about by a democratic process as you well know that is not a view held by the Dictator (referendum re- Europe)

    PS, Is Sceptic squirming.

  • If the Tories were to withdraw support from the UAF Labour would cling onto power thanks to the race card again.

What the UAF is doing is wrong but, the Tories aren't going to condone them as the media would portray them as supporting the EDL and the BNP.

Edit: Mr Sceptic is spot on.

"Fascists must NOT be allowed to march unopposed." => We all agree to that but, the UAF are split from public opinion on how to oppose it. There's more than one way to skin a cat Wolfie and violence is not the solution. The protest has now gained media attention because of the UAF response. Fighting fascism with fascism isn't working and isn't going to work.

It's the same issue with torturing terror suspects. We are supposed to be better than this. There's no point in opposing them if we are willing to betray who we are.

  • The tories support them because it's close to the election and want to do whatever they can to take down the opposition. They're trying to silence an elected political party that's fascism, most of these left ring groups are just fascists under the guise of morality, the left has killed far more people than the extreme right.

They think they're in the right, therefore their justified in using violence just like those people who blow up abortion clinics, then again they support parties who have killed over a million people and plan on doing the same in Iran, so I wouldn't take these people too seriously.

55 Unite Against Fascist supporters were arrested, compared with 9 in the English Defence League. Apparently UAF attacked the police etc.

I think the Tories must comment on this.

They all seem scared to criticise UAF because it could be twisted as a "pro-Fascist" stance because of their name.

UAF need to take action against those members convicted of public order offences, and it might be that that involves changing some of the leadership.

Every time a UAF member gets involved in violence, it detracts from their message. People remember the arrests, not the message.

And the message is that EDL / BNP / C18 are spreading race hate on our streets, and the vast majority of the British public want none of it. The EDL are the football hooligan wing of the BNP, and yesterday, UAF gave Griffin exactly what he wanted - race-related violence on our streets with no blood on his hands.

UAF leaders must be stupid not to see that by failing to control their members they are playing right into EDL / BNP /C18's hands..

EDIT: WOLFIE - I didn't suggest that the UAF should not march to oppose the BNP and its offshoots. But if they can't control those members intent on violence, the reporting by the press is of UAF violence - not of sensible demonstration against fascism and racism. The message of anti-racism is lost as the violence is reported.

EDIT Redmonk - read my answer for yourself and see if you can tell if I'm squirming. If I am, it's not through being shown up by your mighty intellect, that's for sure!

    72 arrested, 68 not charged!

Sometimes, assertive behaviour is needed to counteract against fascism, against non thoughtful right wingers, that are only there on a day out because they rarely leave their front door to visit their country. There is no point moaning about this because it is news for you and its good to have a moan.
