Should I tell my family?

I have been diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. I also have a hernia that requires surgery. I have told my family about the hernia, but I am scared to tell them about the heart condition. My parents have abd hearts and I don't want them to get upset. I have told my best friend and told her not to say anything.

It can cause sudden heart attacks. Not wanting to worry you, since Im sure its a good thing the doctors have identified it, and probably you have a lot lower risk than if it hadn't been identified.

But you have to be realistic, you're still at risk and you should talk to your parents to explain this.

On a different note, it may just strengthen your relationship too. I would hate for someone I know to drop dead suddenly without having the chance to consider it was a possibility

I'm young, so I don't know how helpful my opinion can be, but I would want to know if someone dear to me were suffering. It would help you to have the support of those you love and to have them understand. They would be more readily able to provide assistance at a moments notice should you need it

However, you may be more comfortable to continue living as you have been so that you can enjoy simply living the typical routine. By not telling them, you will know that they are treating you for you, and not in obligation.

I really hope this helped in someway. and I hope and pray that everything goes well with you and your family.

You do them more harm not telling them. They are your parents and have a right to know.
