Why is Homosexuality not counted as a paraphilia anymore?

I really can't think of any scientific reason. I believe it is only political correctness because homosexuality is now widely accepted, at least more than it used to be.

(Paraphillia) was considered a mental disorder by the AMA up until 1972. When gay people got the deserved right to be considered "free from deviancy" The term was not used anymore. if you look in some old medical books it's there, but you already know, you said it in your question (it is not counted as a psychopathology anymore.) so the term and it's connotation were no longer used to describe homosexuality.

I think it has to do with how progressive the majority of society as become. Years ago people didn't accept or understand homosexuality. This includes scientists. They documented things based on what they believed.

Now, scientists with a more accepting and understanding mindset have removed it from the category of paraphilia, knowing that it never was and that the earlier scientists were wrong.

They are poor in mathematics; that is why there may be some mistake while counting.
