First of al,l I am against this bill, I mean law.
I was an insurance/financial counselor at a non-profit hospital for almost 20 years.
~~This law IS very confusing, and is meant to be. All of the provisions are meant to become effective in a staggered time line.
~~Some aspects become effective immediately, and some will not go into effect until 2014. Some say these provisions are staggered to start, after 'key' elections. For instance, some in January 2011, then again after the presidential election in 2012, etc.
~~The US Government, by this law, is mandating all people in the US must have Health Care coverage. Some (several state Attorney Generals have just filed suit that this is unconstitutional, that the Federal government does not have that power of each state) feel this is good, as those who have chosen not to be covered by employers, or by paying premiums themselves, must now do so.
~~The dropping of the' pre-existing condition' exclusion, (that a person with a previously diagnosed, and/or treated condition ~ in some cases even if the condition existed and the person was unaware of it~ can no longer be used, everyone in any health condition MUST be allowed coverage must be covered immediately. A person who develops a condition cannot be dropped from a policy by the insurance company, or the employer.
~~If you choose not to pay for health insurance you will be fined a sum ($750) per person?). If as an employer, you no longer wish to cover your employees, you will be fined. The IRS (who is opening new branches and hiring thousands, as wee speak) will oversee this, as it will be due on your income tax forms
~~Insurance companies will have to raise their prices to help pay for those with pre-existing conditions, because of the expense of now paying for those with extremely expensive conditions they are already being treated for.
~~Those with no health insurance, will now have it. If they cannot afford it, they will be covered. The cost will be absorbed by those who buy insurance, and whatever is in the law that will pay for it.
~~It is expected that the health insurance industry probably has a current life expectancy of 2 years. Then they will go out of business, due to unable to pay the providers for the services of all Americans.
~~If that happens, the government will have the Public Option or Universal Healthcare, or whatever it will be called, which will dictate all who is treated, how they will be treated for their illnesses, which medication is to be dispensed, what doctors, nurses, techs, etc. will be paid, which services will be given 'free', basically how every illness will be treated and for how long.
some say there will be so-called 'Death Panels' (which is a panel of government and health people, who will decide how much a person can be treated, and at what level, and when treatment ends in 'just making the patient comfortable' until they die'), and other rules and limits that will determine basically if a person will be treated and how, and for how long. And also who will live or die, and in what manner.
~I believe the government is too big.
~I do not think the government should intrude in any private industry (auto, insurance, banks).
~I believe health care should be decided between a patient and their doctor (and family).
~I am afraid the states are losing the ability to govern themselves (which is in the constitution).
~Do not like the fact, that in order to get this bill passed into law, so many bribes, side-deals and threats were made by and to elected officials.
I am afraid, that the US government is slowly moving toward one that will take away our freedoms, instead of granting and defending them.
Please consider reading and listening to all sides Then figure out for yourself, if some of the rights granted, under the constitution, are being violated, or are in danger.

Obama's trying to make everybody happy, and it really doesn't solve the issue of health care. If I had the authority, I would turn America's medicine socialistic just like Canada's, completely ridding the country of any such problems. The problem with America is that the health care insurance companies have all the money and can easily buy off all congress members. The richest Americans don't want socialized medicine because that means they can't make money off of it. They want to get wealthy off of other people's sicknesses and if the government runs medicine they can't do that.
Also, the people of America don't want to pay the higher taxes to support socialized medicine. The idea of socialized medicine is that we all contribute money so that everybody can get care. Its ok if a person is poor because the rich will help pay for the poor's health and vice versa. That sounds wonderful and a step towards a united world, world peace or the like. The view of Americans is that they don't want to pay for other people's bills. They only want to pay for their own bills. They want taxes as low as possible so that the government holds as little power as possible. This makes sense since no American wants Socialism since they've been told that socialism is horrible, but things such as health should be handled by the government. We already have socialized schooling, fire departments, libraries, so why not have medicine? The average American cannot pay for a health bill of sixty grande, so why do we expect them to pay such a thing? Its a hole in the system that people will have to fall into.
The current system where a person gets health care and if he/she gets sick the company will pay the bills sounds great if it was just that. The problem with the system is that not everybody can get health care. Thousands of people a day get denied health care and are forced to go on without it. The other problem is that health care companies refuse to pay for sick bills even if the person is covered either because of reason A or reason B. How a person could be so greedy as to refuse someone health care that they are paying for is beyond me. Being denied payment by the company shouldn't even be allowed. Its nothing but fraud, and the biggest fraud at that. If a company is going to offer health care, then give the people their care when they need it! Don't kick a sick person when they're down.

Most people agree that our health care system sucks, but disagree on exactly what to do about it.
The bill has two parts, one part affects health care immediately, the other part affects health care in the future, 2014.
The current bill was passed because people agreed to pass it only if it was fixed later on. Congress now has to agree on several amendments to the bill, which may actually take until 2014.
Most people don't like the bill as is, and so most are anxious to see what amendments actually change and what will stay in. The biggest reason I've heard is that people think that the bill will cost more than estimates predict and that health care premiums will go up as a result of all these new rules.

The new bill requires people to get healthcare, and restricts insurance companies from denying coverage for people with a preexisting condition.
I'm glad the pre-existing condition issue is being addressed, because that aspect of current healthcare is just ridiculous, but requiring people to get healthcare is a violation of rights. Government shouldn't be in charge of how I spend my personal money, and this has economic consequences that benefits politicians and their supporters. The economic consequences do not benefit Americans. The government basically just swiped a Visa card, putting us further in debt as a country to solve a problem in the most inefficient, wasteful way possible.

Furious. Just another way for the Dems to spend massive amounts of money. Nothing will change, other than our debt.

i Am glad because everyone in the U.S.A. has health care now regardless of whether they can pay for it or not!
