Can horses have Potoato peelings?

Yes you can feed Potatoes but not potatoe peelings. The potatoe itself is an old fashioned way of putting wieght on, not as efficient as modern methods and inclined to effect ponies is strange ways due to the starch levels ( i wouldnt dare feed mine potatoes, he goes dangerous on any starchy feeds).

The potatoe peel is bad for them because peeling the potatoe bruises the skin and releases chemicals that the horse cannot digest and can cause colic, just like you can feed pulled grass but not grass clippings from the lawn mower. Peelings can also swell when in the throaght and cause choke.

I think they can have it..I found a site one time that listed things that horses can't eat; but I can't find it now.. You should stick with the basic things to feed it though..like carrots, apples, sugar cubes, etc..things you know won't hurt it.

No,horses shouldn`t be fed potato peelings.The starch in the peelings can swell in their throat and cause them to choke.

They are allowed them, but in small quantity, too much isn't good for them :)

yes they can but dont give them to much deer like them but chicken you have to cook them befor you give it to them hope that helps
