Can an EpiPen produce a false positive on a drug test?
OKay, so i know this is the most ridiculous thing ever, but my cousins ex wife recently got in trouble with the law for drugs. (taking heroine while in the car & wrecked with my little cousin in it) They are in a horrible custody battle for their 8 year old(my little cousin). She has gotten away with SO much stuff during this, and was recently asked to take a drug test. Her drug test came back VERY diluted, and positive for Methanphetamine. (however you spell it). The social worker claims that she had had an allergic reaction to "something" and had to take an epipen, and thats why she tested positive for meth. Has anyone ever heard of this happening or does anyone have PROFESSIONAL knowledge that this COULD or COULD NOT happen?! ANY help would be very appreciated! Thank you!!!!

Epinephrine can't cause a false METH positive. I'd demand that social worker produce valid evidence that epinephrine can cause such a result. If she had a clue at all, she would have claimed PSEUDOFED did it (this is suda-fed which is over-the-counter sinus medicine.)
EpiPen is used for SEVERE anaphalaxis - iow an allergic reaction so strong you can't breath and will die very quickly. People with such allergies are prescribed an epipen to carry on their person all the time for such emergencies (such as people allergic to bee sting or peanuts which tend to be have very severe reactions in some people.)
So I'd also ask that social worker exactly why an epipen was being used.. And if such use resulted in hospitalization or ER visit (it should, since that's just a stop-gap measure and requires further emergency care.)
