Why won't my Chevy 350 start?

We just replaced all the top end gaskets. When we disable the fuel relay the engine turns over smooth as silk. When we put it back in, it just spits and sputters. We get some black smoke from the tailpipe. I few times it has almost started. Any ideas?

Double check your timing and firing order .Firing order 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. The distributor had to come out to change top end gaskets. Make sure your not 180 degrees off.

For some reason you are getting to much fuel. and it is flooding the engine might have an intake qasket that is not seated also.

It is in the timing...reset it and it should take care of it! What year is this anyway? Just wondering!
