paper doesn't feed through?

I have a Lexmark x5260 and had a paper jam some time ago which I had to remove from the front tray - you can't remove the covers to get inside. It worked for a while but now it's telling me to load paper even though I have. It's making all the usual noises and I've tried loading a single sheet and pushing it in further, so it might get a grip(!) Have I broken it? Can it be mended? If so, where?

You have a printer paper jam. Don’t know what to do. Just follow these steps. The problem will be solved.

    STEP 1: Starting Out

First, disconnect the power cord. This will help in protecting you from electrical shock.

    STEP 2: Back Panel Access

Move your printer in such a way that you can access its back panel. Now, the back access panel of the printer needs to be removed.

    STEP 3: Looking for Paper

Through the, now open, back access panel, search for the jammed paper. If you see any paper, remove it.

    STEP 4: Closing the Panel

Close the back access panel properly. All the screws must be put in place and it must latch into place.

STEP 5: Opening the Top Access Panel

Open the front panel. This is the panel that you open when you want to access your ink cartridges. When you open the panel and the cartridge moves, then it’s still getting power. Therefore, unplug the printer. Now, look for jammed paper in this area.

STEP 6: Remover Paper with Soft Hands

Any paper that you may find should be removed with soft hands. The problem is that the paper feeder will offer you some resistance. Therefore, if you pull with force, the jammed paper is liable to rip. This is a more serious problem. So, avoid it.

STEP 7: Close and Plug In

Now, close the front panel. Turn on the printer. If the printing process is smooth and you can take a printout, it means that you have fixed the printer paper jam problem on your ink jet printer.

the one and only good thing about lexmark printers is that feed the paper thru straight away. Unfortunately it sounds like you've broken the roller in the printer that grips the paper. My advise? Bin it. It will cost an arm and a leg for someone to have a look at it, and lexmark printers aren't expensive, in fact, they are quite disposable. I would recommend a canon printer, one that takes individual ink tanks. They start at about $120, the cartridges are fantastic, the quality is awesome and the machine will last for at least 5 years.

Ink jet printers are practically a throw away commodity now.

You can go into Argos and their cheapest printer is a Canon MP250 £34.99

Their cheapest wireless printer is a Dell V305W £49.99

    Without the wireless V305 £39.99

From the latest catalogue Spring/Summer 2010

Things that are broken in to-days world , are more expensive to repair than replace, then the repair /s are unreliable. D o yourself a favour and invest in an Epson or Canon. They are very reasonable priced, and better than Lexus.
