  • I have a small problem concerning a staple gun - and for the conceit of yahoo, I sincerely hope my question is?

I've been asked to re-upholster dining room chairs. Sewing done but the staples won't penetrate the chipboard. I can't figure out the problem. Staple gun is good, staples are regular - I can't see that there is any varnish on the chipboard - is there another sort I haven't as yet come across? Any advice is most welcome

  • Broken earthenware dish - best way to mend?

Too much festive cheer and I've broken my lovely dish clean in two. Wondered if using 'no nails' to stick it back together would degrade it's 'food' grade quality. Many thanks and a happy new year

  • Oats so simple - honey?

My son bought this product, 2 for one, and thought it a fab deal. It is disgustingly sweet and I wondered if anyone knows of a recipe for biscuits or 'something' that I might use it and not just chuck it in the bin. He's plied it with ordinary oats, but they cook at different temps - help!

  • Logo printing green? Any help will be appreciated?

I've scanned a logo (simple b/w image) for a guild I'm a member of - when printed directly from the program it was created, it's perfect. When I insert it into OpenOffice alongside my header it prints green - the rest of the text is black as intended. I've done everything I can think of, ie. going through print properties etc. changed it from a .jpg to a .gif, tried inserting through other avenues such as copy and paste, any ideas, suggestions? I've recently resorted to printing the document, then putting it back through the printer to get the logo - but they never line up the way I want it! Help! Many thanks in advance

  • wine/beer lees - can I dump it in my compost bin?

just started homebrewing again, after a while. Always used to just wash it down the sink - will my compost and ultimately my garden, benefit from this new addition? I grow potatoes in my compost bin, as an aside.

    All advice very much appreciated

  • I don't have a telly - yet I am constantly inundated with demands from the licensing agencey?

I haven't had a telly for at least 12 years but am still having to open letters (at least 3 times a year) that seem to me as being rude and offensive demands for payment or I'll be taken to court! The last letter I received requested that I make an 'on-line' proclamation that I don't have a tv. Crikey, moses, what does it take?

  • paper doesn't feed through?

I have a Lexmark x5260 and had a paper jam some time ago which I had to remove from the front tray - you can't remove the covers to get inside. It worked for a while but now it's telling me to load paper even though I have. It's making all the usual noises and I've tried loading a single sheet and pushing it in further, so it might get a grip(!) Have I broken it? Can it be mended? If so, where?
