I don't have a telly - yet I am constantly inundated with demands from the licensing agencey?
I haven't had a telly for at least 12 years but am still having to open letters (at least 3 times a year) that seem to me as being rude and offensive demands for payment or I'll be taken to court! The last letter I received requested that I make an 'on-line' proclamation that I don't have a tv. Crikey, moses, what does it take?

If you have a computer capable of accessing Yahoo! Answers, it's also capable of receiving broadcast TV pictures over the internet. You need a licence for that. The on-line declaration is a clever trap - the site will access your PC to check if you have a video card. You're nicked chummy, now come along quietly.

If you don't have a TV or Video recorder you are fairly safe, however if you have a digital feed to your computer, they will want their pound of flesh.
That said they are the most ignorant bunch of morons I have ever had to deal with. Until my partner moved in I had a B & W TV, and they were always on my case, but it was the ignorant way they treated me which rankled.
One year they accused me of not having a licence because THEY had got the amount wrong which I had posted to them 3 weeks in advance, but after the beginning of the month wrote back the most abusive letter telling me I was breaking the law as the amount I had sent wasn't enough. The Licence had gone up in January and I paid in July, there fault but nothing but ignorance from them.
They have changed the law so it is worth checking you are not in breach because they are getting more and more devious in tracking down people who watch TV in Britain without a licence.

Are you kidding me? You have to buy a license to watch TV in England? Is this true? Maybe this is how your government pays for all that FREE health care. Something for us Yanks to look forward to in the near future. We now have some of that FREE health care. Our government already charges a tax on tanning parlors to help pay for it. I wouldn't be surprised if they started to tax our TVs too. There has been some talk over here of an oxygen tax, but I don't think it will go anywhere. At least I hope not.
This is yet another example of the efficiency of government. They spend our tax dollars to pay a bureaucrat and for printing and postage, to send bills to people who don't owe them money. And when they are informed of their mistake they spend even more of our money to make us even more miserable.
We pay them so much to annoy us. If we paid them more do you think they would leave us alone?

Ye quite right too; They Are ignorant, vindictive b*stards who, with tacit government support, get to call ye a liar and a thief. Then send idiots on a commission round to 'case' ye home.
Them and the Arsepca? Two main reasons I left the country. Else I'd just have ended up nailing one of them, fight there on my door step. It really Was coming to that.

Do the 'on-line' proclamation and then see what happens, either that or call their customer services number.
