I have a small problem concerning a staple gun - and for the conceit of yahoo, I sincerely hope my question is?

I've been asked to re-upholster dining room chairs. Sewing done but the staples won't penetrate the chipboard. I can't figure out the problem. Staple gun is good, staples are regular - I can't see that there is any varnish on the chipboard - is there another sort I haven't as yet come across? Any advice is most welcome

Some particleboard is hard stuff. If you are using a hand powered, spring-loaded stapler, it may not be sufficient to penetrate. A pneumatic stapler may be necessary.
