Well, my blood test came back negative. What do I do now?

So as some of you know, I had a blood test and it came out negative. Now I'm not sure what I should do as far as tracking my cycle (I'm 18 days late and still nothing). Do you think it will come on time next month?

I've called my doctor's office and am waiting on a call back to answer some questions, but any input you have would be helpful.

P.S. I've never charted ovulation, should I start doing that? How do I do that? This is our 5th month trying.

Update:

I'm 33 years old, 2 kids (11 and 9). I'm religiously regular on my cycle.

Yes, if you want to know when you are ovulating you should be charting, using opk's and tracking your CM.

I never really understood charting, but I was lucky enough to track my ovulation by CM alone and conceived our first month with both children. But opk's are a great way to pinpoint ovulation, opk's gives you 24-48 hours notice! Your fertile period is generally 5 days. 3 days before ovulation, the day of ovulation and the day after ovulation. Once the egg is released, it is viable for 12-24 hours.

I wouldnt worry too much about charting ovulation but I would strongly advise that you keep a record of all your cycles. Always keep the date that they start and stop to see if there is a pattern and if they are erratic it may be because of hormone troubles. I would just say that this time you missed your period thats quite common.

Back in the day when my mam got pregnant with me she was told that she had to miss 2 periods before she would get a test done at the drs too many people only miss one and then find that they were not really pregnant.

I had the same experience, except I didn't get my period for two months. I did all the tests that I could think of and everything came back negative. Blood tests, home pregnancy tests, etc. I must have just been pregnant because a month later I found out that I was pregnant. :D It was really exciting to know that I wasn't crazy. So, now we are expecting our first baby July 17th, and really thrilled!

Good luck! Hope this helped out!

If you normally have regular cycles, you could try using online ovulation calenders to give you an estimate as to when you should ovulate. You could also try ovulation kits. Dollar Tree carries them and they are very accurate. There are also other methods for tracking ovulation, such as keeping track of cervical mucus and your basal body temperature. I'm not too familiar with those methods, but if you try typing them into a search engine, I'm sure you'll be able to find plenty of information. Good luck and best wishes!
