  • How do I get the turkey to brown?

So, I like to put my turkey in the electric roaster, but the skin doesn't get brown and crisp like it does in the oven. Is there anyway to do it?

  • If you were given a gift that required assembly, would you rather it be assembled for you, or do it yourself?

I bought my husband a new grill, and I was wondering if I should get it assembled and have it ready and waiting for him, or let him put it together himself?

  • Should I tip the driver?

Because of the snow, I didn't feel comfortable driving to the pharmacy, so they are making a delivery. My question is, is it customary to tip the driver? If so, how much?

  • Any ideas about why my car is shaking?

I have a 93 Honda Accord. It feels really bumpy when I'm driving, specifically when I'm going slow...at about 40 or 50 mph you don't really notice it much at all. Also, when i turn, specifically to the left, it feels slippy...if that makes sense. Oh, I did just replace the back left right tire a week or so ago, although it seems like it was bumpy before that...but it's getting worse day by day.

I don't know anything about cars (obviously), and my husband is away on active duty in the Air Force, so I'm kind of freaking out, so as much detail as you can give would be very helpful.

  • Well, my blood test came back negative. What do I do now?

So as some of you know, I had a blood test and it came out negative. Now I'm not sure what I should do as far as tracking my cycle (I'm 18 days late and still nothing). Do you think it will come on time next month?

I've called my doctor's office and am waiting on a call back to answer some questions, but any input you have would be helpful.

P.S. I've never charted ovulation, should I start doing that? How do I do that? This is our 5th month trying.

  • Well...my blood is at the lab...wish me luck!?

Okay, so I'm wayy late (17 days) and I've gone in and did a blood test today. (I'm one of those people who cannot get HCG to show up in urine.) I really think I am pregnant, and I'm soooo antsy to finally hear. (I'm going to be soooo sad if I'm not!)

So anyway, wish me some luck and well wishes, if you could.

  • I'm really nervous about my blood test...anyone have a similar experience, or words or encouragement?

So, as of today I'm 12 days late. I have 2 children, and we are trying for our last. I've never been able to get a result from a home pregnancy test, I've always had to get a blood test done. So, I'm going in next week (Thursday) to do so, and I'm feeling uneasy. I'm worried I'm going to find out that I'm not actually pregnant (maybe something is wrong?) and be very upset about the whole thing. Any experiences or encouragement would help.

  • Why doesn't anyone wait and be surprised anymore?

I know a lot of people want to be prepared, but why not wait until birth and be surprised anymore? It seems like no one has any patience anymore. What do you think?

  • We have to decorate a cake for Cub Scouts. Any ideas?

For our Blue and Gold banquet, we are having a cake decorating contest. The theme is Boy Scouts' 100th anniversary, and we are supposed to decorate a cake with a motif that reflects that theme. Also, everything on the cake must be edible. Any ideas would be appreciated.

  • I have to wait until at least Friday to take a pregnancy test...anyone want to wish me good luck?

I'm getting really antsy, because it really "feels" like it is going to happen this month...or maybe I just really want it to. Anyway, just wanted to hear from other people who are in the same waiting game as I am.

Question: Did you find those last few days before you could test to be especially gruelling?

  • What do I do about my son peeing on the floor?

My son is eight years old and he keeps peeing on my bathroom floor. I really don't get it. We've spanked him, made him clean up his messes, even made him take us with him when he uses the bathroom. After a punishment, he stops doing it for a while (sometimes for months even), but as soon as I think he's stopped with this disgusting habit, he goes right back to doing it again. Any ideas how to stop this for good?

  • Should I get the H1N1 vaccine?

We are planning to start trying for a baby next month, and I was wondering if I should get the vaccine before we start trying. The nasal mist thing is the only one available right now, and it is made with a live virus. My concern is that with a live virus, if I do have a minor case of the flu, I'll spread it to my kids. What do you guys think?

  • We're trying to have a baby with an October birthday...when do you think we should start trying?

Obviously, you can't control it down to the very date or anything, but if we had it all our way, we would like an October birthday...but at the very least, a fall birthday. We're going to start trying soon...what month do you think we should start?

We're pretty fertile people, so it shouldn't take long.

P.S. I sure hope this doesn't hurt the feelings of anyone who is having conception problems...and of course we'll be happy whenever our baby is born...so please don't get fussy at me. :)

  • Do you guys think I'm a jerk?

Apparently, some times I come off the wrong way. Maybe I'm too honest...I don't know. I just want you all to know that it is never my intention to hurt anyone's feelings, although I don't mind giving people some tough love if they need it.

So anyway, do you think I'm a jerk?

  • What does Milk symbolize in dreams?

For the past week, I've had weird dreams (well I always have weird dreams, but that's not the point). In the dreams, I find myself in situations of potential harm, possible death, from milk. In one dream I nearly drown in it, in another, people are shooting it at me...stuff like that. What does milk symbolize?

  • What do you do when a kid steals from you?

I have some uncharted territory here. I'm a long time Girl Scout Leader, and I'm pretty sure one of the girls stole some of my supplies at our meeting last night. It was just some markers, but a trust has been violated here. I know she wouldn't admit it if I asked her about it, and there's maybe a 1% chance that I could be wrong, so I'm kind of in a quandry as to what to do. If this were just one of my kid's friends, I'd probably just keep quiet and make sure to watch her better when she's around. But since this is in a Girl Scout setting, I feel it is my duty to this girl to make sure she stops doing this sort of dishonest thing and learn to do what's right. She is 13 by the way...what do you suggest I do?

  • What is an appropriate thank you gift?

My husband was just hired for a hotel management position at the good word of his current boss (both hotels are owned by the same company). This is such a good opportunity for my husband , he would like to thank him. We thought of a bottle of wine, but we don't really know much about wine. We want to get something classy and thoughtful, but don't want it to be weird (you know how men can be). Anyway, any ideas?

  • How do I properly store board games long term?

I asked this question in the Home and Garden section, but I'm not getting any answers there.

We have some board games that the kids are too old for. We want to store them in the garage so we can have them if we have a kid later on. I want to make sure they don't get smelly or dusty or mildewed. Any tips on storing them?

  • How can I explain the Holocaust to my daughter?

My daughter is 9 years old, in 4th grade. She is a gifted student, very bright and a very sensitive girl. It's become apparent that it is time to talk about the Holocaust, as several of the books on her recommended reading list are related to the topic. While she has heard of Nazis before, when she has asked, we just told her that they are very bad people and that is all she needed to know. I certainly want to have a conversation about this before they learn about it at school as well. It is really hard for me, because I feel like a child loses so much innocence after having to know about something so horrible...I'm tearing up just thinking about it. It is especially sensitive for us being a Jewish family.

Help me have the courage to do what has to be done.
