Why did the Democrats kill a health care bill in 1974?

In 1974 Nixon introduced a health care bill to Congress and the Democrat's led by Edward Kennedy killed the bill.Later Kennedy said it was the biggest mistake of his career,so why have they decided now to push a health care bill through Congress.

Because it didn`t give the government control over the people !!! Bill in Conflict with Congressional Budget Act of 1974

By Bob Ellis on March 22nd, 2010

"The Authority of Law" statue in front of the U.S. Supreme Court

Newsmax reports last night’s unconstitutional government health care bill may not fly based on more than constitutional grounds (sounds odd to say that something might be “more” than the Constitution, but congressional socialists last night made it clear that the Constitution is an irrelevant document in their eyes).

The website Republican.Senate.Gov points out that the language within the bill which affects Social Security is in conflict with the Congressional Budget Act of 1974, and thus is not legal.

The web site quotes a statement on the bill from the office of House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer:

“The Congressional Budget Office estimate of the health care legislation shows an increase in Social Security revenues. … CBO projects that the resulting increase in wages will generate $29 billion in additional FICA contributions to the Social Security Trust Fund.”

But section 310g of the Congressional Budget Act of 1974 reads as follows:

“Notwithstanding any other provision of law, it shall not be in order in the Senate or the House of Representatives to consider any reconciliation bill … that contains recommendations with respect to the old-age, survivors, and disability insurance program established under title II of the Social Security Act.”

Don Stewart, spokesman for Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, says Democrats won’t even meet to discuss the issue.

It’s not surprising that socialists, er, Democrats won’t even discuss this problem. They made it clear last night that petty things like laws and constitutions simply don’t matter when such things get in the way of their glorious socialist revolution. They are too busy celebrating their victory over the American people to be distracted by reality.

But hopefully Republicans will have the intestinal fortitude to press the issue…because the American people darn sure aren’t going to sit still for this assault on their freedom and the rule of law.

because even as all of this fails, and it is going to, Democrats can ought to take finished duty. Republicans does not be lulled into this fake promise of health care for this reason dems have close them out thoroughly. They intend on shoving this deal down all of our throats. it may wind up being shoved up their ---es and the top of the Democrat celebration.. one aspect is for functional and that is Democrat/liberals have harm themselves immensely. could they get well it heavily isn't contained in the close to destiny. apparently no man or woman has said that Liberals have provided no change plan. i have not in any respect considered a project the position there is not a minimum of an selection plan. to that end could their health care fiasco be a failure they might have had a decrease back up plan of coverage reform as has been inspired by Republicans. yet to that end that is all or none. an highly stupid go by liberals. no man or woman has puzzled why that is besides me?

At that time, their base were the people of this country and it was expensive for the individual. Now, their base is Big Business, and Big Business needs to be relieved of medical insurance for the workers to compete in the world market.

Because there wasn't enough reaching across the aisle. That's how things get passed. You reach across the aisle as much as needed to get enough votes. Nixon refused to do that.

They don't want health care reform either, as can be seen by the latest debacle.
