Why did the NCAA make every site use the same court?

Forget how much you like it or don't like it .. WHY did the do it? What was their logic?

Update:

to the first two answerers ... i obviously confused you, i should have been more specific .. when i said "the same court" i did NOT mean the same 'arena' nor the same 'city' ... i was referring to the basketball court itself - the actual surface ... this season the NCAA has had matching courts installed at each different location where games are being played - i believe there are 13 different locations in total - 8 for the first two rounds (Buffalo was one for example) and 4 for rounds three & four (including Syracuse and Salt Lake City) plus there will be 1 more for the Final Four...all these floors are identical with one exception - the name of the city is labeled at one end of the court (in light blue on a black border) ... in the past the hosting arena would use whatever court surface they had - so every location had a different look to it on TV ... this year you do not know what location you're looking at unless you see one corner of the court or recognize the color of empty seats

    I knew what you meant.

I think it was neater when the school floors were there.

I think it is just the over commercialization of the tourney and the downgrading of any character.

    What are you talking about?

The NCAA moves the Regional games around the country - it's not always the same place. They have to use arenas that are large enough to accompany a lot fans, so they need cities with enough hotels and large enough airports to handle it.

About every 4 or 5 years they may play at the same place. Syracuse has been used before but they mix it up. Last week they played games in Providence, RI for the first time since I can remember.

One thing you can't forget (and you probably did) is that the NIT is also going on. While it gets nowhere near the TV and press coverage - the finals are always played at Madison Square Garden. So they've never had an NCAA Tourney in NYC - they've had it at the Meadowlands a few times. I grew up in NJ and I remember how the area totally loved it - one of the few "sporting events" the entire tri-state area the opened up - The World Cup Soccer was another thing but I think that might be because Ireland played at the Meadowlands (it was crazy).

All these rumors of expanding the NCAA Tourney would mean the "end of the NIT". So then I think you would see the finals be played in NYC at some point. That's where it should be played anyway. NCAA Finals, Madison Square Garden, New York City, New York - that's what I'm talking about dude - talk about "hype".

I mean where would you want to see a game? - Indianapolis, Indiana? Kansas City, MO? Detriot, MI? OR NEW YORK CITY - CAPITAL OF THE WORLD.

By the way - you may be thinking "who came up with the NIT?". back in the 1940's, 1950's and most of the 1960's - the NIT was "the Big Tournament". The NCAA Tournamanet really didn't become this Monster it's become until 1979 - sure UCLA was a big story but when Indiana State and Larry Bird played Michigan State and Magic Johnson - that's when it got HUGE (if you have HBO, they've have a documentary about that). As a matter of fact - most of the BEST teams in the Nation would forget about the NCAA Tourney and play in the NIT.

So, you should do a little research - you will see they mix up the arenas and cities they play in.

If your talking about the "actual basketball court" then your just nuts. The Basketball Courts are all the same size because they have to be and if you look on the floor - many of the floors will say the name of the arena and/or city on each end - and then the NCAA logo - what Logo do you want them to use - also, that NCAA logo is only used at "large sites" - smaller/older sites don't have that.
