The panthers were in line to get a bidding war between SF,AZ, Seattle, Oak the 49'ers were rumored to be willing to trade Crabtree, their top 10 pick in 2011, and a 2012 pick. The Panthers would still be in line to draft Gabbert the 2nd best qb in the draft and get picks to fill their many needs

I know the game is being broadcast on Versus but it is the best game of the night

Both the Big East and Mountain West Conf battling for respect and both teams are potential BCS Bowl level talent. Both are preseason top 25 teams Dion Lewis from Pitt is a legit heisman contender and one of the 5 best running backs in the nation

But neither team is a great ratings machine like a notre dame ( who gets headline status despite being irrelevent for the last 20 years) if you only watch ESPN TV or radio you barely hear the game even mentioned.

ESPN pretends it is newsworthy sports reporting but is this not a big example of how ESPN's desire for ratings has compromised their integrity?

ESPN has the power to control the polls by what teams they show in highlights and how they can push or hype one team over another.

Vick played in the 99 National Champ game and was drafted in 2001 9 years ago...

The Eagles lost brain westbrook would they not be smart to start playing vick in 5- 10 plays per game as a RB allow vick to do what he does best.

Wouldn't that be smarter you could still keep vick as the 3rd string emergency QB and save the team an extra roster spot?

West Virginia got robbed no way the video evidence was conclusive beyond doubt. looks like the ball was moving in pead's arm as he stretches the ball out and there is no clear angle as to if the ball is over the goal line. ESPN does not have the overhead camera running tonight

since 2000 when FSU beat Va tech for the national championship the ACC has done nothing but regress.

the Big East exspansion thing has not worked out each school is actually making less money than they were before now that they have to pay travel costs in every sport to Boston and Miami

but this openning weekend of college football the acc has been putrid losing to every Bcs conf team they played and

2-2 vs 1-aa schools! duke losing to richmond and uva lost to william and mary

Yes they beat Oklahoma 3 years ago in the Fiesta Bowl but so has everyone else OU has played in a bowl game (WVU, Florida)

Who has Boise beaten since? BSU return only 5 seniors ian johnson is gone. they play in a weak conference and play only 1 ranked team Oregon so why are they getting all this hype?

there are better non BCS teams.

for example East Carolina is returning 16 starters from a 9-4 team that beat Va Tech and WVU. ECU plays in an equally weak conference usa but they schedule heavy again playing App St, at WVU, Va Tech and at UNC

Take the Dallas Cowboys for instance. they traded their 2009 1st round pick in the deal for Roy williams. they have no 2008 1st round pick. but they do still have 10 draft picks they have compiled from various trades with Cleveland, miami, and Detroit

what if they bundled one of their 2 - 3rd round picks and their 2010 1st round pick for example to Denver for one of DEN's 2 - 2009 1st round picks.

in the 2010 draft Dallas would again have No 1st round pick but would they be allowed to work a trade involving their 2011 1st round pick another team say Seattle for example for the SEA's 2010.

Is this a plausible loophole? i know it would take being able to find several willing trade parnters every year to stockpile the draft picks needed to make the trades worth while but could a team perpetually work this scheme?

losing to 2 big ten teams mich and wisc. unc is the only acc team that has stepped up over the last 3 years. duke has not been out of the 2nd round.

I think he is a good QB just not hall of famer. look at his career he has 5 years with 27 or more tds and he has 5 years where he did not reach double digits

warner is a great stroy no doubt but not a hall of famer in my opinion unless this is the start of one last great 3 year run for him

i know the tradition and history of the big 10 used to be great but how do we keep punishing the more deserving teams today ?

big 10 1-5 in bowls so far ! the best the big 10 can hope for is 2-5 in bowl games. big east 3-1 the acc is 3-6 but they lack the football tradtion and rating appeal of the bloated big 10 teams so their lack of competition gets swept under the rug by espn and the media

I put a lot of the blame at the door of espn they broadcast the games and they skew the poll rankings. espn cares more about ratings than quality match-ups and deserving teams.

we also need a better way to reward the 2nd tier bowl games the auto tie in system gives us these klunkers of bowl games.

it is not the Cowboys fault the NFL hitched their wagon to Dallas, Oakland, and Pittsburgh in the 70's when the NFL was just beginning to grow on tv. and now they have such a big national following. Dallas was marketed by the NFL as the "Good guys" to the raiders and steelers "villians" in black

yeah its been 12+ year since dallas won a play-off game but they still have the most play-off wins in the superbowl era and most playoff trips

ecomonies run in cycles when it is up and strong it can support more company incentive based ideas but when it is stuggling as badly as was in the 1930's and today you need more worker community 'socialist' based ideas

personally i expect a replay of 00 with several of the highly prized closely contested states calling for recounts and it will be 3-7 days before a true winner is declared

bush's plan was to give tax breaks and incentives to companies. was in theory that the ney saved by the companies would then trickle down to the workers. the workers would then spend more creating more revenue and taxes.

the problem is the companies dont pass the benefit down instead it stayed in their bottom line. in an attempt to make their comapny more impressive to investors..

i'm curious how is this plan any different from what john mccain is proposing? why are we to think it will suddenly start working?
