locate blower motor resister?
Where do I find the blower motor resister in a 1997 Chevy Lumina, the blower only works on the #4 level # 1,2,and 3 don't work.
I have checked the blower motor and the switch and they are good.

Mercedes and Matt is correct, look under the glove compartment (you will have to remove the cover) locate the blower motor the round looking thing and just to the lower left of the motor you will see a rectangular looking thing with a 4 wire connector disconnect the connector remove the screws and you have removed the blower resistor. :) There is only a high speed relay in this circuit and all it does is bypass the resistor block to send constant battery+ to the blower motor! if the relay was bad you would have NO high speed #4 blower operation and all the other #1,2,3 speeds would work (the problem is your resistor) this is a very simple circuit! lol :)

The three lower fan speeds are powered through the resistor and the relay N.C. contacts via the switch and Fuse 4. The high speed fan is powered through the relay N.O. contacts via Fuse 14.

what do you mean by N.C. and N.O.?

The relay is a single pole, double throw (SPDT). One pair of contacts is normally closed (NC) and the other contacts are normally open (NO). When the relay is de-energized, the NC contacts are closed and that's what powers the three lower speeds. When the relay is energized, the NO contacts close, carrying current to the blower at full (high) speed. That can only happen if the fuse and circuit powering the NO contact is intact. The fuse for HIGH is separate from the other blower speeds.

I THINK that it is right behind the blower motor under the dash. Follow the harness from the blower motor and it will lead you right to it. Hope that helps!

find the heater motor and follow the wires back to the resistor,on my 03 its on the inside of the truck right almost behind the glove box area,it has a small wiring harness going to it,and has two ten ,mm bolts holding it on,good luck.
