Grand Theft Auto IV PC Seems Stuffed Up?
Ok. I got GTA, ran it (the previous gta question I asked worked itself out, surprisingly it was the 'reinstall" that did it) but as soon as it loaded the campaign, i noticed something...very...ODD. The intro just shows a blue flat ground plane, and square boxes which may be the light sprites, and nothing else. And it LAGGED. the audio was perfect, but the video... really ****** up. I am certain that my 512 MB NVIDIA 7100 GS vid card is adequate, as is all the other **** like ram, memory and so on- but the damned thing looks like crysis on a virus-laden, win95-running 1960's era computer.
In other words, THE CRAP?!
When it got to the bit where you have to drive so-and-so somewhere, you can't see anything but big rotating grey squares (exhaust?) and the brake lights of a million invisible cars. The HUD is perfect. Only the game screen is stuffed. I took a screenshot and will try find a place to upload it if you want to see what I mean.
EDIT: Image uploaded; for ease of viewing and a lack of facebook accounts, here it is a mod db: http://www.moddb.com/members/flaillomanz/images/gr...

its your graphics card.
gta iv
Minimum System Requirements
• OS: Windows Vista - Service Pack 1 / XP - Service Pack 3
• Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8Ghz, AMD Athlon X2 64 2.4Ghz
• Memory: 1.5GB, 16GB Free Hard Drive Space
• Video Card: 256MB NVIDIA 7900 / 256MB ATI X1900
Recommended System Requirements
• OS: Windows Vista - Service Pack 1 / XP - Service Pack 3
• Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4Ghz, AMD Phenom X3 2.1Ghz
• Memory: 2 GB (Windows XP) 2.5 GB (Windows Vista)
• 18 GB Free Hard Drive Space
• Video Card: 512MB NVIDIA 8600 / 512MB ATI 3870
even if your pc met the minimum requirements i would take that with a pinch of salt.
ALWAYS go for the recommended requirements for the game to run smoothly
your 7100gs is a very basic card, its just a revamped 6200tc.

that card is well below the minimum required to run gta iv
you will have to upgrade the card to play it properly
look here to compare your card to the minimum required.

If you only like playing games that have awesome graphics then you are really missing out on a lot of really good games. Personally I think GTA games at the time of them being released had pretty good graphics.
