How do you make a construction implementation timeline? 10pts?

I have to make a construction implementation time but have no idea what it should look like. I'm looking for a template or an example that I can work of off. I need to know the format it should be in and the most professional way to do it.

(I have the dates already set for when to do things I need the format it should be in) 10 pts for a example from a reliable source or a template from a reliable source. (I will be checking sources)

MS Project, and Primavera Suretrak are the most widely used in the industry, but if you do not have access to either of these and don't want to spend hundreds of $$ to buy, you can make a pretty good schedule just using excel. (see youtube video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcHaiEaQj24)

For a basic schedule, I typically just use the columns: Task ID (or #), Task, Start, Finish, Duration, % Complete, and then your calendar on the right. Then you can just list your tasks, and color the cells in that row over the corresponding dates.

The pros are that this is cheap, easy (if you know excel), and easy to make yours look unique with a little formatting.

The cons are you have to manually make the template, and things won't update automatically when you make changes like in the scheduling programs.

    Good Luck!
