What do you think of the effectiveness of Democratic leadership?
Whether you agree with their ideology or not, do you think Obama and the Democratic Congress are effective at advancing their agenda?
Edit: Joey M, why do you say that? They signed major health care legislation into law, passed climate change legislation, reached an agreement with the Russians to reduce arms and the economy (maybe in spite of government) is on the mend. Like I said, you may not agree with the virtue of these, but do you not agree with their competance of their governance?
Edit: Thanks for your analysis and opinion Mr. Smartypants. I generally agree with your Clinton era analysis. One thing that struck me about the Republicans during the Bush era was their incompetance. I was shocked about how the Bush administration, other than Tax cuts or No Child Left Behind, was not able to work with either the Republicans or Democrats to champion any significant legislation. B

The Dems have always been at a disadvantage. One advantage the Republicans have had since I can't remember when has been that they all vote together. When Newt Gringrich was Speaker of the House, he would threaten to take members off their committees if they didn't vote as the party leadership told them to. The Republicans have always been the minority party in terms of voter registrations across the nation, but they gained control through togetherness. They would often push their bills through even when they didn't have majorities in Congress.
The Democrats have never been that united. Clinton had Democratic majorities in Congress for the first two years and they really got nothing big accomplished. Each member votes however he likes, and the Democratic Party covers a much wider spectrum of political ideology than the Republicans.
I was really surprised Pelosi and Reid were able to get the health care bill passed. A lot of Democratic congresscritters come from 'purple' states that voted for McCain and they were worried about losing their jobs. Perhaps the Democratic leadership have finally learned their lesson from the Republicans.

I think they were too nice... and let a year's worth of pork and compromise into a bill they had to force through anyway...
if they would have just took a month, reach out to Repbulicans, when they didn't come in... cut a few deals and get it done... would have been a MUCH better bill... and much more popular...
maybe they learned their lesson... but I'm not sure...

"Democratic leadership" is an oxymoron...and calling it "effective" is simply a contradiction.
