To all Obama detractors, is this an example of a successful outcome of his economic recovery policy?
If it is not, then would the Republican alternative (massive tax cuts to the wealthy, I presume) lead to an immediate increase in jobs?
8 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoAll you teabaggers out there (and anybody else of course), how do you assess Brown's impact on Obama's agenda?
After reading http://news.yahoo.com/s/ynews/20100413/ts_ynews/yn... do you agree? Was Brown a blessing for Democrats or is this opinion totally off base?
8 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhat do you think of the effectiveness of Democratic leadership?
Whether you agree with their ideology or not, do you think Obama and the Democratic Congress are effective at advancing their agenda?
10 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoPlease give an honest assessment of Bush's handling of the Afghanistan war during his entire tenure?
This is more directed at Republicans but I am interested in everybody's opinion. Overall, did Bush succeed in the long term goal of removing the Taliban and Al-Quaida influence from Afghanistan? Was it suppose to take this long to remove them from power in that part of the world? Even though we were warned that Afghanistan was a "graveyard for empires" and the like, after 9/11 I was expecting total defeat of the Taliban and Al-Quaida. It seems like after an initial foray into Afghanistan, he allowed our military to get bogged down in Iraq. Did he drop the ball in Afghanistan? If he did not, why does the Taliban operate freely in the no man's land of Afghanistan and Pakistan?
17 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoHas the Obama administration Iranian policy been to lenient?
Obama campaigned on and has since agreed to high level talks with the Iranian regime with no preconditions. While I was initially in favor of this policy for a number of reasons, it seems like recent events have shown the Iranian regime to be brutal and paranoid. Should the American government and our NATO allies still welcome the government into the community of responsible nations?
9 AnswersPolitics1 decade ago0bama mom with Letterman, why did you block me?
You asked a question in regards to AET stock prices, I answered it, you replied, I got the actual stock price history to show your that the premise of your question, that Obama is profiting off of health care insurance stocks is not borne out by the facts. You then give me a message that the board members of AET do not "seem scared enough". I tried to reply but you blocked me, what is up with that?
6 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoIs Obama or Bush to blame for the soaring deficit?
What do people make of this analysis of the deficit?
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/10/business/economy...
Personally, I was disappointed in their neglect to mention the 9-11 attacks as a "broad category" for a reason why the budget plan did not meet the budget starting in 2001. I assume it got swallowed up in the "37% attributed to the swing of the business cycle". Other than that glaring omission (my opinion), I pretty much agreed with the analysis. I believe Obama should push harder to fix the problem of the current budget deficits.
I would appreciate well thought out responses to this analysis but feel free to vent if you must!
14 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhy are cons attacking Obama regarding his decision to buy up stock in GM?
Obama claims that he has taken the action he has because he wants to mitigate short term pain which would happen if GM were to totally fail. Why would Obama expend his "political capitol" to rescue a failing corporation? How will this help him politically or financially? I can understand if you think it is a bad decision for the federal government to become major shareholder is a corporation, I cannot understand why people think Obama is doing this out of personal greed and/or vanity
33 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoHow do people rate the Bush administration's handling of the North Korea situation?
I see a lot of criticism of Obama's handling of the North Korean situation. It seems to me however that it is basically just an extension of the Bush administration's policy. Bush issued a lot of tough talk about the North and Kim Jung Il but after getting the military bogged down in Iraq, he resorted to diplomacy (pretty much an extension of the Clinton policy). My question is directed at Bush supporters....how do you rate Bush's handling of the North Korean situation?
15 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoHow do people rate the Bush administration's handling of the North Korea situation?
I remember hearing a lot of tough talk about NK during the Bush campaign and pre Iraq. Once we got bogged down militarily in Iraq all the sudden they seemed more interested in diplomacy. Up until the nuclear detonation this weekend, I had thought that the previous administration did an acceptable job with NK. I am just curious as to what others think, especially pro Bush people. Thanks
4 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhy are some Con's on Y/A blaming Obama for the state of the economy?
Why are some conservatives on Y/A blaming Obama, who has been in office less than two months, for the state of the economy in one breath yet extolling the virtues of Reagan's economic policies in the next breath. According to the posted article, unemployment was at a high in 1983, well into Reagan's term as president. Why the double standard from some of the posters here?
11 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoHas the Bush administration handled the Georgia War and subsequent occupation by Russian forces appropriately?
I do not believe Bush is a competent president but I think this was handled as well as could be expected, what do other people think?
20 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoShould the next president repeal the Bush tax cuts?
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080728/pl_nm/usa_econ...
It seems clear that the Bush tax cuts did not stimulate the economy enough to pay down the national debt and now we are looking at record deficits. Should both candidates plainly state, in unison that if elected, they pledge to raise taxes?

15 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoDo both XBox 360 and PSP 3 play blu ray disks?
We just bought a LCD high definition compatible television. We would like to get a player which plays both conventional DVD's and Blu Ray disks. I am also a gamer. Do both XBox and PSP play blu ray, or is it just the PSP?
9 AnswersVideo & Online Games1 decade agoWhat do you think about how the war in Afghanistan is progressing?
After we invaded Afghanistan in 2001 I assumed we would use the awesome might of the US military to kill terrorists, control the main cities and build a western type country there. I knew it would not happen overnight and we have made some progress to be sure. However, I did not think seven years later we would still be engaged in skirmishes with the Taliban with as weak of an Afghan government as we have now.
5 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoIs a presidental press secretary legally obligated to not tell falsehoods to the press?
If so, should McClellan be brought up on charges of some kind? At the very least, gross negligence. Possibly even a war crime.
8 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhy do we have Turkey as a long term strategic ally?
The Armenian genocide is thought to be the second most studied and documented example of genocide. I understand that we need to make temporary alliances with less savory nations to assist us in reaching our long term strategic goals (example: Pakistan). But Turkey is part of NATO. I always considered NATO a organization of countries with shared core beliefs. I do not "blame" the present government in Turkey for the atrocities committed in waning days of the Ottoman Empire, but they need to acknowledge it and try to understand why it happened so as to prevent it from happening gain. If they cannot acknowledge it, we should terminate our alliance with them.
