About 10 metres. The sea floor is spreading at about 2 cm every year, which is 2 metres every century. It is approximately 500 years since Columbus first siled, so 5 x 2 = 10.

Columbus was Italian and he didn't found the United States of America. He didn't even land in what is today the USA. The founders of our country were the signers of the Declaration of Independence and their supporters among the citizenry at that time. Not only that, the Vikings were in what is now New England before Columbus sailed and the Chinese were in what is now California before that. Pay closer attention in history class skippy, before you lecture the rest of us about it.
