Any tips to help me get my P's?

I'm going for my P's driving test in a week and I was wondering for those who have gone through it, what can I expect? Is it really nerve racking? How long abouts does the test last? Any random tips?

Thanks!

(By the way I live in Australia)

Good on ya for giving it a go.

When you take your test, you'll want to be concentrating on traffic, indicating, checking your mirrors and listening to instructions from your assesor. You don't want to be trying to remember what pedal to push, what gear your in or in fact anything about actually getting the car to do what you want.

Practice sitting on a chair and going through the moves involved with setting the mirrors and seat starting the car and moving off into traffic, changing through the gears, changing lanes and stopping. Practice these for 15 mins a day till the test and you should have the memory muscle (brain knowing what to do with hands and feet) for all these moves without having to think about them.

Write a check list of things to do before you even start the motor and practice this check before you get into your pretend car.

On the day a quick walk around the car will let the assesor know you're looking for flat or bald tyres and anything that might be in your way that you wouldn't see with your mirrors or through the windsheild. Tell the assessor what your looking for. Adjust the seat, mirrors and take a moment to take a deep breath and relax.

    Happy motoring.
