I believe there is a program of mind control all right; but it is not the government that is behind it, but the one the Bible calls the "god of this Age". One of Satan's best deceptions is to leave people think God is running things; when in fact God gave authority to mankind; and mankind betrayed it to Satan.. Now a few have realized the initiative is with those who have become united with Jesus in His death, burial and resurrection. These have been born of the Spirit and instructed in the pure doctrine of the New Covenant. Most who were born into Christianity really don't have a clue about the spiritual realities of the things of the Kingdom of God. You cannot experience the Kingdom of God, which is a present reality, until you are born again.

"And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God."

    II Corinthians 4:3-4

"We know that we (believers) are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one."

    I John 5:19

"Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again.' "

    John 3:5-7

Religion has been used for power before in history, and it still influences power and the government, but is certainly not originated from government. Religion is a sort of fake government, that was much more popular in previous centuries to abide by.

Religion is still used a bit for power/gains but not much anymore. Certain people exploit Christianity on TV for donations, whilst supposedly healing people in the audience as miracle cures. This is just a massive scam that makes religion another problem.

An argument I've heard before about religion (Christianity in particular) is that you can't KNOW GOD/JESUS exists, you have to BELIEVE, and if you know he/it exists, you aren't a true Christian.

That said, It's just silly to believe (or know) in something that you have no indication that it's possibly there. There has never been any decent proof of god, or supernatural Jesus - Just coincidences, natural phenomenon, tricks/hoaxes, and mental illusion (brain washing/peer pressure).

I don't believe in any religion, particularly Christianity for many many reasons. There are probably over 100 reasons, and you could find them quite easily on the Internet (although I thought of most of these partially or completely on my own).

#1 there are so many different types of religions.... they all disagree with each other. They can't even get their own religion straight? how can they all be right?

-This can also be applied to sub-religions, such as for Christianity: Catholic, Mormon, Jehovah's Witness, Protestant, etc.

#2 Religions are the cause of a MASSIVE chunk of the world's wars, probably like 70-85%. While not only religion, at least religion-influenced

#3, related to #1 (and 2), some people twist their religion into a justification for fighting/killing people. This is previously and currently very prominent in religions like Islam and Christianity. (both religions are mostly peaceful but scripture can be twisted quite easily. Doesn't even need to be scripture)

#4 fallacies, lies, fantastical things, hypocrisy, etc. can all be found in holy scripture. Old testament and new testament of the bible is so conflicting, not to mention they even conflict themselves, and conflict with the religions based off them. People may say it's just the interpretation or translation, but the fact is things can be interpreted many ways, and the most obvious is most likely to be the intended one.

I suppose that's enough for now.

Religion is mankind's way of satisfying the human need for God that God put into all of us. Not all religions are correct about God of course because they can't all be correct and also contradict each other. A personal relationship with God is better than any religion. God wants us to know Him. Look around the world at all the horrible things people do, can you still believe that we individually know right from wrong? I can't. That's why it was necessary for God to tell us and give us guidelines. How does a person set himself free? People try every number of things to do that, and so many people are still sad and depressed. We can't save ourselves in the end, only Jesus can.

    Put it this way

The churches have no confidence in each other. Why? Because they are acquainted with each other.

-- Robert Green Ingersoll, quoted from the book Ingersoll the Magnificent, edited by Joseph Lewis, which does not cite references

Why should I? Every relgion thinks they are the one true church and everyone else is wrong, seems to me there all wrong.

Source(s): Every Christian sect gives a great handle to Atheism by their general dogma that, without a revelation, there would not be sufficient proof of the being of god. -- Thomas Jefferson, arguing that Chrisian exclusivism (via the idea of an exclusive revelation) degrades the credibility of the Christian religion, in a letter to John Adams, 11 April 1823 (capitalization of god per original) Religion is one thing God quite another, Life is one thing death quite another.why chase life into death.

I believe in the Judeo-Christian God.

  • Oh. Em. Gee.

..That is ONE completely insurmountable, virtually unreadable wall of text. :-O

What are you, allergic to paragraphs, spell check and proper writing? I sympathize, but PLEASE... You can do better than this, can't you?

Anyway: I believe religion exists. (Because that is not obvious at ALL, duh.)

But I don't think it is a good thing, and I am not religious myself.

No, I don't believe in fictional stories of origin fabricated by humans. If God's upset at my lack of faith He can tell me to my face.

    also tl;dr

religion is evil. it's a means of control and causes world horror.

'ohhh....but it gives people hope and helps poor people'

The hope is FALSE, and the charity could be done secularly.
