Is there a difference between Hypomania and Bipolar II?

I was recently diagnosed with hypomania. My psychiatrist said that I'm hypomanic and possibly bipolar II, as if there was a difference. It was my first visit ever to a psychiatrist so I was a little nervous and overwhelmed with the information she was giving me and didn't think to ask at the time. I've tried looking it up, but can't get a clear answer. Is there a difference?

Update:

I actually went to my psychiatrist suspecting I had a bipolar disorder. I've dealt with severe depression and started exhibiting signs of mania recently. With my list of symptoms, she agreed that I was hypomanic and "possibly" bipolar II (which we would explore with more therapy)...which again led me to believe there is a difference. Also, I am looking for a new psychiatrist since they told me after one visit, my current psych is not covered under our insurance. So I don't know when my next appointment will be so I can ask more detailed questions.

Update 2:

I meant CAN'T ask more questions at this time.

they are pretty much the same thing. The good news is that it's a trait of highly creative and artistic people.

I would agree with this also hypomania is equivalent to the "manic" state that bipolar 1 gets. Its just more mild because its bipolar 2. usually bipolar 2's swing back and forth from depression then back to hypomania. But if your treated correctly, (like going to therapy, and taking medication) then you should be more stabilized. if you have any questions feel free to ask.

I don't understand how your psychiatrist could diagnose you with Bipolar II / Hypomania after one visit, it took me two years of Psychiatry and medication to get diagnosed.
