How can I get pretty hair? It always looks greasy and gross :-/?

My hair is a little past my shoulders, and it has a few layers in it, with side bangs. I always straighten it, and lately I've noticed it just looks gross. It looks oily/greasy, whether I wash it every day or every few days. It sticks flat to my head on the top and poofs out at the bottom. And my bangs don't look right, instead of staying together swept to the side they get greasy looking and separate and half hangs in my eyes. Eww :-[ They used to sit fine, but for some reason they don't any more. Can anybody suggest anything to help? I'm getting my hair cut later today, I was just going to get it trimmed but any suggestions that might help?

Thank you sooo much, and sorry this is kind of long!

Update:

I want it to look soft and wispy, and instead it looks heavy and dense.

well for thhe hair cut dont cut it with more layers, just the same. nd wash ur hair everyday, or every other day. try not to wash it beyond 3 days, or the oil clogs up. use shampoos like hea and shoulders, they're really good for dandruff nd oil, which normaly come together.

Striahgting it can make it greasy, so just striaighten it lighty and use heat protectors. but only a little heat protector so the liquid doesnt grease it. use combs tht have alot of spokes, so it comes each hair individualy and makes them fit together.

dont use alot of conditioner, just a tiny bit in your hand to cover your hair. Use shampoos and conditioners with volume, more volume, usually less grease.

    hope tis helps :]

Try not to grease or oil it to much that might stop it from looking that way and don't wash it too much either try an oil sheen or hair spray that is natural and is not full of chemicals if your African American washing it every two weeks or perm it. No matter what kind of hair you have don't do too much of anything to it. Go to a professional hair stylist and let them diagnose you or help you find a solution I HOPED I HELPED :)
