Did God do it? Or was it pointless?

Very curious about the answers I'll get to this one. Okay, here we go. How do you know that God answers your prayers? How do you know that it wouldn't have turned out the same way regardless of whether you prayed or not? If he does not answer the prayer, many people say that he did, but the answer was "no". Also, many people believe that he answers questions according to his will, which begs the question, why pray with specific requests in the first place. Lastly, many people have such strong belief in God BECAUSE he answers prayers. HUH? That of course leads me back to the first question.

I promise I am not "trolling". Real question, would appreciate real, respectful answers, without anyone telling me to "read the Bible" (Just read it this morning) or saying that I "need to repent". Thank you in advance. Also, notice I did not single out any one religion in this question. Thank you again.

    Prayer has 3 solutions, say if you prayed for money;

    A) You could receive money in some form, lottery ticket, find a note on the street etc within the next few days. And you're happy the prayer came true and God indeed responded, but this could easily just be a coincidence as such a thing is not completely unlikely, especially if you are openly looking for it..

    B) You could receive money in some form in the future, which could happen anyway without intervention and conclude that God's delay in answering your prayer was all in his plan to give it you in due course.

    C) You may never have your prayer answered, and simply conclude again it's all in God's plan that he wants you to find another way. Teaching you that things are not as simple as you think, and you must work and earn your money instead.

    Whatever the results of praying, it will strengthen your faith. You will have the same result from praying to say, the sun or an inanimate object.

    Testing the effectiveness of prayer concludes it's only as effective as a placebo.

    Here's what I believe, for what it's worth. Prayer isn't so much about lining God's will up with ours as it is with lining our will up with his. When we pray, God's answer is always "yes," but not always to the specific request we made--sometimes, he's responding to the resolution that we should have asked for, and that will ultimately be the best outcome from the broadest perspective. So if when we pray we're open to what God's will in the situation already is, the value of the prayer for us is that we will be neither shocked nor disappointed by the outcome.

    First you must accept that we have different destiny. Once you accept your faith become stronger. When you pray, just wait because god have all the reason for everything.Why he will not give u want the things u want right now because maybe it will be better for u to recieve tommorow.

    I am a muslim and I always pray fivetimes a day. I ask a alot of things in this worl. But what I always better things in the hearafter.

    Keep seeking God, let me tell you some things that will get you on another track, do you know that hell is made up, there is no place of torment for people if they are bad. It was a piece of literature written by a man named Dante who wrote Hells burning Inferno, the early catholic church brought it in to control and scare the people. Also you need the Holy Spirit to understand the bible, which you may already have, cuz Jesus said my word is spirit, so you need spirit to understand spirit. And you can also ask God your questions...have the relationship with Him that He wants and we need. And there is still more, it gets better...but alot of people wouldnt believe it so i just send them to a site who knows alot more than this and you or they can listen for themselves. check out below

    You don't know. You can only assume and use your own logic.

    I agree with the second answer though. The only way you can find answers is if you look for them yourself. That's how you grow as an individual, by thinking for yourself. I don't think there is a God out there answering prayers. If, so there wouldn't be so much suffering.

    What you're leaning towards is called FAITH. In my opinion, God answers all prayers, in His time and in His way.

    I am atheists who have aspirations. Most of them are met and I did not pray for it.

    I worked for it.

    What is pointless is no faith.
