Why do so many people trust the government rather than their doctor to make their health care decisions?

The government will make the rules about what is covered and what isn't, not your doctor. There won't even be a doctor on the panel. Now you are going to say, why should insurance companies make those decisions. They shouldn't. Your doctor should be able to make those decisions. Not the government and not the insurance company. Do you see why many doctors are saying they will no longer continue to be doctors?

Update:

I heard a prominent Democrat say it this morning. The panel will decide what is covered based upon saving money. Perhaps you should start listening to your presumed liars.

Update 2:

I'm sorry but I read that part myself in the bill. The government will decide what is covered and what isn't. Perhaps you should find a better fact check site.

You see the tip of the iceberg of evil, but let me show you the depths.

About 20 years ago, the government started on a project called evidence-based medicine.

It was a false project on the very first day because the "evidence" that they looked at was literature surveys in the field of medicine.

Medical evidence is one thing. Medical literature is quite another.

With medical evidence you get a dataset, so judgments can be made about the appropriateness of the selected datapoints, their number, how they scatter out, what the histogram looks like, where the mean is, and where the tails are, and how many standard deviations to get to the tails.

With a literature survey what you get is a digest of the survey writer's opinion of what the consensus is of a set of literature samples that the survey writer has looked at, but is not telling you which ones they are, who selected them, how they were selected, or what bias may have been present at the time of their selection based on an agenda that you do not get to know or see or hear about.

So the government is telling you that its medicine is evidence based, when actually it is literature survey based. This is intellectual counterfeiting. They are offerring a coin that they say is gold (based on actual scientific evidence) when the coin is actually made of brass (based on bias, arrogance, and Lord knows what else).

As of ten years ago, they put their so-called "evidence" based medicine into an expert system, which is a form of software that can drive menu based medical practice, sometimes called cookbook medicine.

As of nine years ago they started making all VA Doctors comply with this expert system in the VA's computers.

Five years ago they entered the delusional state of believing that they had a monopoly on all true medical knowledge.

The precise diagnosis is mass megalomania delusional neurosis -- so there were tens of thousands of VA of other government doctors that entered this condition of neurosis.

Four years ago, it became clear that the VA system of so-called "evidence based medicine" was harming and killing many people through computer-assisted malpractice.

Doctors were abandoning their Hippocratic Oaths to be loyal first and foremost to the patient, and to practice patient-centric medicine and they were joining the mass movement toward managerialism and computer-centric medicine.

So around 2006 so-called "evidence-based medicine" became a sociopathic psychosis, for which no cure has emerged.

It's like a religion. The psychotics are true believers. No matter how much harm they do, they think their actions are justified and good and should be universalized.

So the VA's mental illness is about to spread to all of medical practice in USA. Critical thinking is out. Blind obedience to the computer software is in. It's like Taylorism, or McNamara at Ford or DOD. The numbers say that money is being saved, so what could be wrong? Just speed up the machine and we'll all be rich.

Medicine by the cookbook, cookie cutter, one-size-fits-all --- the God of this Psychosis is the "One Best Way". The problem is not that best practices are copied or emulated or taught. The problem is that Doctors are being turned en masse into homicidal zombies. The Hippocratic Oath specifically calls on Doctors to use their own best judgment and only their own best judgment. When they take the Oath, they are promising to do that. When they go to work for the VA, or for a lot of health management organizations, they are walking away from that promise.

Technically zombie doctors should be struck off the state Board Certified lists. They could be re-certified as medical data-entry clerks and screen readers.

Heaven help any American who can't pay with crisp $100 bills for any medical care they may ever need in USA. I'm not joking. Heaven help them.

Government is already paying for many of the uninsured when they finally go to the ER and cannot pay so the government plan would just make it so that everybody is covered and they can actually get help before something is serious and will lower what is already being spent. The U.S. spends both the most per capita on health care in the Western Industrialized World and the most in actual dollars from government. Consider that, the U.S. is spending more in total and as a percentage of GDP than anywhere else to cover fewer people and provide worse care.

Unfortunately, many voters just don't understand what is going on. The majority of obama supporters have no clue about the workings of government. They just wanted to vote the first black president into office. Most of them also happen to benefit greatly from government-run programs. They're hands are always out, looking for the next "gift" from the government. Sheeple, following blindly.

The people that are saying they trust the government in the healthcare takeover (not reform) think they are getting healthcare for free and some rich person is going to pay for it. What they don't understand is that Obama Care is rationed and managed. Millions will die and it won't just be the elderly, sick, and disabled either. If you get in a car accident, the government will likely "pull the plug" on you if you even got as far as getting a plug. You will die because you will be too expensive to fix. That's how socialized medicine works. People will be horrified when their children die from denial of healthcare yet they will still have to pay.

I'm sure we will get some communist czar to run the health care program and I'm very sure a lot of people will be denied proper care, depending on whether or not they are productive citizens. funny, the people who want this most will be the ones that are denied the most. because they will be the least productive. should be real interesting to watch their reaction. so many stuck on stupid.

this is not a R or D thing, it is an American thing and Obama isn't one. why do they trust him???

Please fact check this nonsense once and for all

The law allows people to buy insurance when they could not before

How IS this any way SHAPE or form getting the gov to tell a local doctor what to do?

Doctors have been complaining for years....a doc fix is needed and that is another matter

and some doctors should go back to why they entered this field..money or to treat the sick

You're looking at it wrong. It isn't about the doctor, it's about THEMSELVES.

The typical Democrat/liberal knows himself to be utterly incompetent even to see to his own basic survival needs. Knowledge of one's conspicuously sub-human status can lead to only two places: suicidal depression or ego-defensive projection. What passes for the Democrat's mind "tricks" him into assuming OTHER PEOPLE actually NEED to be government PROPERTY for their own good and that for the sake of these "others" they should nobly sacrifice their own individuality to the system designed to CONTROL those poor stupid saps.

Thus, the Democrat gets what he knows he NEEDS - someone else to FORCE him to forgo ever making a choice - all while claiming it's for the good of others.

Source(s): I meet a lot of Democrats. Their self-loathing is invariably palpable.

The premise of the question is not correct. The government is telling the greed-driven INSURANCE INDUSTRY not to second-guess doctors. You have mischaracterized the government here, which is focused on CONSUMER-PROTECTIONS that have been denied them by insurers or for-profit HMOs. There is no government interference in anyone's diagnoses or treatments, and one assumes you may have gotten this disinformation from Faux News or its affiliates, which frequently resorts to out-and-out lies and blatant distortions to score controversy-connected ratings or to subvert our political process. May I suggest you do some indepth homework? Try ReadTheBill.org or else go onto the whitehouse.gov website and click onto any appropriate site which reveals content and/or application of the new laws (including the "Fix-It" legislation passed and signed into law last week).

They would eat chit if they didn't have to think or pay for it, and soon they will get what they are working towards.
