How can you fly Navy SEAL missions? Basically, do you become a regular helicopter pilot or SWCC?

Looking to join Navy as a heli pilot but would like to fly SEAL missions. Unsure if I have to become an SWCC or just be a pilot. If anyone could tell me how it works, that'd be great. Thanks!!

SWCC are on boats, man. SEALs in helos are not necessarily being flown around by NAVY helos. During Operation Redwing in Afghanistan in 2005 (see the book "Lone Survivor" by Marcus Luttrell) SEALs were dropped off by Army helicopters of the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (160th SOAR).

Why do some many people think that you can join the military and just check off a box on your career? You can join the military allowing that you have no criminal record. To be any kind of pilot requires that you be an officer. To be an officer requires that you have a college degree and then military training (ROTC, Academy, boot camp and then a commission). The chances of you becoming a helicopter pilot in the navy; slim and none. Looking at some of your answers... Hate to break it to you, it is not about your intelligence. It is about your degree. Without a degree, you can't become an officer I know this. I was a nuc, IQ 147 Navy veteran <<<<<

Night Stalkers are a highly trained special helicopter regiment who are the main flyers for the U.S. Navy Seals because of their fast deployment and their flexibility. All the navy seal books I have read say the Night Stalkers are there favorite transporters and they are beggining to work with them a lot. Ya the guy above me got it right thats the book i read also.

Make your way into the 160th Soar.

They fly all service spec ops

im pretty sure you just become a pilot and you can be stationed out on the cruisers.
