Can somone tell me why Anti-Mormons will not divulge their own affiliation?

I have had conversations with literally hundreds of LDS Critics, and one thing I find common among almost all of them is they simply will not tell me which of the 1600 sects of Christianity they belong to. Or even if they are Christian in the first place. Could it be that just about anything can be criticized, no matter what organization you belong to. And they know that their own organization has it's faults?

Update:

I really don't consider Atheists typically "Anti-Mormon", they are "Anti-Religion". Of course Atheists will divulge their.. beliefs, they don't have any, thus there is no way to criticize them in return. Because if you do... they will 'modify' their beliefs because there is no standard.

I'm curious as to why (Christian) critics simply won't answer my questions when I respond to them. As an example:If Jesus is God, and Jesus is a resurrected Man, then we can logically assume God is a Man. No response?

I guess what I am specifically asking out there is: Are you taught not to divulge your particular affiliation?

Update 2:

Or to answer questions.

Update 3:

I really wanted someone to fess up, that they may be taught in their Churches not divulge anything, or answer questions? But that was probably just wishful thinking, I really do think that this is the case however.

Update 4:

Truth Seeker, very good observation. But you don't seem to realize that God works through fallible humanity. God didn't write the books. Sorry Evangelical community, your theory that the Bible was written by God will backfire as it has in the opinion of Truth Seeker.

Scripture is written by man, it is not written by a person who has had his hand guided across the page by some supernatural force. You will find it common that the Lord actually chooses 'so called weak' individuals to do his work. The original apostles were chosen from the working class community, not the religious scholars. The LDS Church does not hold to infallibility of scripture, a more reasonable approach.

    You too??

I've tried asking this question, albeit in a different way, and I get the same run-around. In fact, when I try to dialogue with them about these questions, I get vituperative wrath and then they totally ignore me. When you ask a question of the Bible that they are asking of the Book of Mormon, you get something like "See? You try to deflect the question by vilifying the Bible!" when I really WANT a straight answer.

I did get one answer where this female person said her "faith" is to tear down the LDS church. That's it. Nothing else, no "Jesus is my Saviour" or anything, just "I hate the Mormon church". That was her faith.

edit: Man, Sandra!! You make it sound like Mormons have guns held to their heads! Your friend "escaped"? How did she do that? I mean, surely the church leaders are not threatening her! "Oh, you better come back or your family is toast!" that sort of thing?

Your friend is playing you for the fool, it sounds like, or someone is being WAY over dramatic!!

I don't have the problem of them not telling me what denomination they belong to. But, when I take my turn and question them they have become irate, went away, or had no response. My experience is that they don't want to be held to the same standards they want to hold me to. Then, when I have valid answers, they have no response and the attacking ends there or they use some passive aggressive tactic.

Bottom line is that any argument they might have against the Book of Mormon or the Mormon faith can easily be turned around and you could substitute Bible for Book of Mormon or Christians for Mormons.

I have never had a confrontational conversation with an atheist or agnostic since converting over a year ago.

I'm Agnostic.. Also a former Mormon.. Tried non-demoninational Christianity and the NIV version of the bible for awhile.. But fooled me once, you wont fool me twice. Studied Christianity, Islam, and Judaism a bit. Very different concept is developed when you study religions with no intent into believing what is written down in their books without any solid evidence. Especially when you compare the amount of information in those books. And then compare the amount of information in a study on anthropology and see how much more information is there than any information in those holy books. Makes you wonder why are those Holy books so dang vague.. Well if there was a book written by an all knowing omnipitent being it would be much better reading than any of those books. This includes the book of mormon. Heck my tech books usually have 10 times more information than any Holy book i've read.. Is God a dummy.. oh wait.. Those men living in those times weren't that educated anyway.. THat explains the lack of accuracy and information in those books.. Silly me how could I have been so naive.

Ha I give give you a book on sewing approximate the same size as the book of mormon. And if 1 million people read that book over and over.. I bet they'd all have a very good understanding of sewing. Then if they practiced what the book taught as much as a mormon practices what they are taught I guarantee we'd have a heck of a team of sewers.

If there is a god it wouldn't write such a lack of information and detail of a book and it certainly wouldn't get so much information wrong or that could be interpreted 1000 different ways.

LOL at the Roman Catholic. I am hoping you are not Anti-Mormon and also Catholic. I think the Catholic Church of recent is like a sive. I mean there are so many holes even John Paul couldn't save this one.

That being said, I LOVE Catholics, they are great people. Most are very nonjudgmental and nice people. I even like the importance Catholics put on authority.

    Look it up: www.mannachurch.org

    Calvinist based religion

The website has what the church believes in as well if...you are curious, but you probably are not, I emailed our Pastor recently and told him, the dark blue color they had looked toooo much like LDS.org and Mormon.org, I think they have since changed the color of the website, but who knows.

BY THE WAY OUR SERMONS ARE BROADCASTED SO YOU CAN SEE IF ANY...I REPEAT...ANY OF THEM HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH DISSING MORMONISM!!!!

Geez the website is so dark.

Most are atheist, they get tired of being in a religion once they leave the mormon church my dear. I had this problem once I left the church, even I was atheist for a time. My brother is everything, he says you cannot put him in a box, my other brother is Baptist.

Atheism is a belief in themselves as Lord and Savior of their life. It is a belief system.

Atheist, and not against all religion. Some are quite peaceful, don't send missionaries, and don't push their beliefs through politics.

I can understand your frustration, but trying to impress people by saying 'we are no worse' is just so ineffective.

18% of the US now claims no religion on surveys. Probably that many more were born into something they don't care about enough to defend.

I'm willing to bet that with your "conversations with literally hundreds of LDS critics", you're making up the fact that they won't tell you their affiliation. Why would anyone deny it? What do they say? "Ohh I'm not comfortable telling you?" So, I don't really think your question is valid, unless you have proof?

    I mean, come on, seriously.

Btw, if you can't guess my religious beliefs, I'm not gonna tell you.

I have many problems with mormons. Of course, their religion is not really any worse than that of other christians, but their social behavior certainly is.

I am an atheist. My organization has no faults, because atheists are not organized.

    Do you feel better now?
