The Bible predicts the future?
No, I'm not saying that it does not...I don't claim to know everything. From what I have observed though, these predicts are usually found AFTER the event has occurred, and I'm not sure that would truly be considered a prediction. I personally do not believe that the Bible predicted anything, but that's just my opinion. I would like some examples please, and of course, all answers, comments are welcome! Thank you in advance. :)
Dax, may I suggest you not assume things? I have read the Bible. Numerous times, as I had no choice going to a catholic school and all. You know what they say about people who make ***-umptions...But thank you for taking the time to answer nevertheless. :)
Judah, I do understand your point, and thank you, but there is no need to be condecending...all I did was ask a question.
Paula, I actually have read the ENTIRE book of Revalations...scared me half to death, but I read it. Thanks for responding with your thoughts, I appreciate it.

As far as I can tell bible predictions fall into three categories:
1. So vague as to be impossible not to happen. War and rumors of war. earthquakes, volcanoes etc.
2 Postdictions. these come in two forms:
2a predictions after the event. The entire book of Daniel falls into this category. Daniel, as it turns out, was written after all the events so accurately predicted had actually happened.
2b claiming events fulfilled predictions. All the fulfilled 'messianic predictions' fall into this category. When the bible was written it was impossible to check Jesus' lineage. So the claim that he is descended from David is impossible to verify. Similarly riding into Jerusalem on a unridden colt. Being born of a virgin, etc. etc. The story has been told to match the predictions. And this has been done so much that it 'fulfills' hundreds of 'messianic predictions' that are actually just verses taken out of context.
3. Failed. All the verifiable messianic predictions fall into this category. That the messiah would return all the Jews to Israel, would be king of Israel, would bring peace and a single religion to the entire world, etc. Another example are Ezekiel;s predictions about the destruction of Tyre. He got the wrong king, from the wrong country at the wrong time and despite his predictions that the land would be barren forever after Tyre is a considerable metropolis today.
I am not aware of a single Biblical prediction that is:
1. specific enough to not happen by chance.
2. written before the event predicted.
3. accurate.
We will have to see what the theists come up with.

David said it all but ill try to prove that it does indeed predict events accurately before they happen. youre right when you say that if someone predicted events after they happened, theyre not really predictions of the FUTURE but rather the past.
Jesus said the the temple would be destroyed when He was talking about the rocks being thrown down to the ground. the temple was indeed destroyed and this was after He died and resurrected and ascended to heaven.
The bible predicts the Israel would be scattered and then regathered to form a nation again. That has never happened before or since.
the Bible says there would be false prophets with false doctrine in the last days. we ARE living in the last days. There will be wars and rumors of wars, earthquakes in various places.
Jesus Christ Himself fulfilled over 100 prophesies concerning the Messiah (Savior) that were written at least 400 years before His birth. Those prophesies were so precise that the odds of fulfilling 20 of them were 1 in 100 million! and thats just 20 out of 100+ (i forget the exact number, i think its actually closer to 300). He was born in Bethlehem, from the bloodline of King David, had His hands and feet pierced, betrayed by a friend (instead of an enemy) for 30 pieces of silver, performed miracles, etc. i only listed 5 but how many people would fulfill just those 5, even in today's time?
with some reading your bible and doing some research you and everyone can find the answers and truth, if you really truly desire to know the truth. but you must be open to the truth, not closed-minded or with closed ears. i pray you find the answers you seek and come to a knowledge and believe in the Truth.

Will God tells us in his word how the end of times will be. The sun became as dark as black cloth, and the moon became as red as blood. The stars of th sky fellto the earth like green figs falling from tree shaken by mighty winds. And the sky was rolled up like a scroll and taken away. And all of the mountains and all of the islands disappeared. Revelations 6:12-14 Dear children the last hour is here. You have heard that the antichrist is coming, and already many such antichrists have appeared. From this we know that the end of the world has come. 1 John 2:18 God states us that when its near of the end of times he let us know the signs and many are in the bible,i gave you a few but there are much more. If you decided to get a bible try to get one that has many subjects that you think you may have questions about, and the bible willl give you verses that God talk about of the question you have. The only predictions of future events in the Bible are vague and non-specific. For example:
"There will be wars"; "There will be earthquakes"; "There will be famine"
Of course, these things always occur. These are not predictions of the future.
I never read anything in the Bible like:
"There will be a magnitude 7 earthquake in Haiti in 2010"
"Flying machines with people inside will hit the two tallest buildings in a city on the Atlantic Ocean coast in September of 2001."
I am still waiting for someone to give me a specific prediction from the Bible of an event before it happens.

I could mention many profecies that came true as predicted, but if you are going to believe what oposers say that the prediction where made after the event then there is no point in talking about the prophecies because you have already made up your mind that they are not true. There are so many things about the Bible that history has taken centuries to uncover that it is incredible. That includes lost civilazations that historias had said never existed and the Bible mentions. Archeologist has since then uncovered artifatc and even ruins to many of these places. Science and the Bible, even though it is not a science book, go hand and hand. The Bible talks about things that mankind had to wait till last century to discover. Earth round, earth hanging over nothing, DNA, the water cycle, and much more. The prophecies regarding Jesus all came true to the perfection. The Jews where waiting for the messaiah and that they can attest to. They can confirm that Isaiah was written way before Jesus was born. How then do people say that these prophecies where written after the event if Isaiah prophesied Jesus? Something to think about... There are many other things that make the Bible stand out from any other book in human history.
Some will believe and some will denny it. But even in that the Bible is soo true!
(2 Timothy 2:14-19) 14 Keep reminding them of these things, charging them before God as witness, not to fight about words, a thing of no usefulness at all because it overturns those listening. 15 Do your utmost to present yourself approved to God, a workman with nothing to be ashamed of, handling the word of the truth aright. 16 But shun empty speeches that violate what is holy; for they will advance to more and more ungodliness, 17 and their word will spread like gangrene. Hy‧me‧nae′us and Phi‧le′tus are of that number. 18 These very [men] have deviated from the truth, saying that the resurrection has already occurred; and they are subverting the faith of some. 19 For all that, the solid foundation of God stays standing, having this seal: “Jehovah knows those who belong to him,” and: “Let everyone naming the name of Jehovah renounce unrighteousness.”
(John 18:37) . . .Jesus answered: “You yourself are saying that I am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone that is on the side of the truth listens to my voice.”
If you would like to know more about this and other themes, next time Jehovah's Witness come to your door, ask them for a free Bible study at your convenience. You will never regret all the knowledge you will acquire and remember that what you do with that knowledge is your choice.

It's actually a very simple process to predict the future. You essentially "predict" some very vague, general things, like "there will be earthquakes" and "people will go against the word," things that will either happen no matter what because they have always happened, or things that can be construed in a number of ways. Then you say you "predicted" it would happen.
It's kind of like shooting thousands of arrows into a wall, then going up and drawing targets around the ones you "predicted" would be bulls eyes.

The Bible was written from around 2000 BC to 100 AD
66 Books
About 40 Authors
They are called prophecies not predictions (there's a difference)
Jesus' coming was prophesied about 1500 years before He was born.
It was prophesied that He would be crucified about 800 years before crucifixion was even invented.
It was prophesied the fall of Babylon (a BIG event in history) years before it happened.
All of the these prophecies were foretold long before they happened
Use this link to explain that

btw, that prophecy was fulfilled in 1948
ALL of them have come true. Except for a few yet to occur
For instance: It prophesied that the Jews will return to Israel

Misquoting Jesus: The Story Behind Who Changed the Bible and Why is a book by Bart D. Ehrman, a New Testament scholar at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The book introduces lay readers to the field of textual criticism of the Bible. Ehrman discusses a number of textual variants that resulted from intentional or accidental manuscript changes during the scriptorium era. The book, which made it to the New York Times Best Seller list, is available in hardcover and paperback. Ehrman recounts his personal experience with the study of the Bible and textual criticism. He summarizes the history of textual criticism, from the works of Desiderius Erasmus to the present. The book describes an early Christian environment in which the books that would later compose the New Testament were copied by hand, mostly by Christian amateurs. Ehrman concludes that various early scribes altered the New Testament texts in order to deemphasize the role of women in the early church, to unify and harmonize the different portrayals of Jesus in the four gospels, and to oppose certain heresies (such as Adoptionism). Ehrman contends that certain widely-held Christian beliefs, such about the divinity of Jesus, are associated not with the original words of scripture but with these later alterations.

Well, we don't know the exact dates the gospels were penned, but if any of the Synoptics were penned before 70 AD, then Jesus surely did predict the destruction of the temple.
The bible also predicts that all souls will be judged on the last day. There are other instances.

My dear I say truly that BIBLE predicts the future .
If you read Matthews gospel in the BIBLE you could see that the signs of the ENDS.
And REVELATION gospel it is about COMING OF OUR LORD JESUS .
I truly one can predict the future because according to john chapter in the bible it says about
"the word was in the beginning ; the word was with the god ; and the word was god"
hence JESUS said i am ALPHA and OMEGA hence everything that take place in the world has origin with BIBLE
No one with normal eyes shall understand the fact .But a man filled with HOLYGHOST shall reveal all things unto you.
