What kind of speakers/subs should I get?

It's been brought to my attention that the 19 year old speakers in my Jetta MKII don't sound good. They give almost no bass and sound like crap. Now, I honestly don't know anything about car stereos so I'm asking this as plainly as I can. What is a good system that I can put in relatively easily that doesn't cost a ton of money?

It just needs to sound alright, I'm not putting in a system that costs more than the rest of the car as a whole. Any suggestions?

If you have a decent aftermarket cd receiver your should be able to add some interior speakers without an amp. This will be your cheapest option. You can go to best buy or a custom shop. Now if you want the real thing you will need a 2 or 4 channel amp for the interiors and a monoblock (1-channel) amp for the sub you need. Make sure an idiot does not install it for you!
