I don't understand it, at all.
What is the purpose of having regular social interactions with other people?
All I've seen from this activity is it all ends in pain.

People need people, simple as that.
Having friends and having fleeting moments of joy with those friends is what makes life bearable.

The purpose of regular social interactions is so that you can get to know others and then you can choose those people who would be worthy to be a close friend. Close friends are those you turn to when things are bad. When you need to talk they are there for you.

because people are different, maybe some people dont care about it, but usually humans need to have friends to talk to, to share stuff, etc...
And this only ends in pain when u have the worst kind of friends... when we learn how to make real good friends, we find good reasons to want to be with'em...
not the quantity, but the quality of friends is really important

Simple. We have inherent need to share. What if you win an online lottery, would you keep quite or have an urge to share this information it with others? Well friends come handy to share your joys with and very good ones to share your sorrows with.
